My hubby and I had friends and family coming from all over the US and a couple from out of the country... we chose Riviera Maya, Mexico... super easy flight into Cancun and the just a quick ride to the resort.

We both have crazy schedules and didn't have a ton of time to spend meeting with vendors, etc. so we used destinationweddings.com... they led us from choosing out resort to coordinating the wedding with the onsite wedding coordinator and then made all arrangements for our 65 guests.

If there is one thing I am worse at than "wedding planner", it is "travel agent". LOL! Destinationweddings.com really made my life so much easier, my guests happier, and our entire experience incredible!

I think you both need to decide where you want to be-- is it a combined honeymoon? We recently got married in Costa Rica at an all-inclusive resort. The resort had their own wedding planner so that helped significantly as the flowers, foods, drinks, officiate, cake, were all taken care of. We did use an outside vendor for band and photographer as the hotel's venders were very expensive.

We decided on this country because it was a place neither of us had been, and where we were going to go on our honeymoon. We thought about Mexico but wanted to be a little different. Costa Rica is more expensive than Mexico, but still a short flight from the US/east coast. I've heard Hawaii is very expensive--since it is the US afterall. After you pick the country, decide if you want a resort or what location/venue? If you go with a resort, it's likely they'll have a wedding planner there to work with you. Good luck!

Weddings of Hawaii has been amazing! They have all-inclusive wedding packages that include the airfare, hotel, wedding w/limo, photos, videographer, flowers, etc. for $2500 (depending on where you are flying in from). Go to www.wedhawaii.com

I just had my wedding in Jamaica at Couples Swept Away Resort. I worked with an awesome Travel Agent that specializes in Destination Weddings, Pam Gramling. She helped us with pretty much everything. Its having a personal wedding planner/ travel agent for free. The resort was amazing and the pictures came out beautiful. I found a destination wedding was less stress plus you are on a beautiful resort. All in all I would definitely do it exactly the same. But you have to see what matters to you most when you think of your wedding.
