We are not dancers...

Chelsea, on August 7, 2019 at 2:58 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
I was just thinking, so me and my FH are not ones to be cutting a rug on any given night, and most my friends aren't either. We just aren't dancers and our taste in music isn't something you typically dance to. I will definitely be planning on having music (DJ or playlist) and space for dancing, but I don't anticipate a huge group of people will be eager to just dance. What else can I do to keep guest entertained?? We DONT have a huge budget to be hiring entertainment or anything like that. How can we still make it fun for our non-dancing guests??

Thanks!

You could play some games . I've been to weddings before where they had an mc who brought people up or went around to the guests and do some interactive games

If your guests don’t dance, I would assume they’re pretty good at keeping themselves entertained during other social situations like bars, clubs, or other weddings. I wouldn’t worry much about it, but a photo booth could be fun. If you’re having a more casual wedding, you could have games like corn hole or giant Jenga.

Do you have room for some outdoor types of games? You could set up a giant jenga or even cornhole if that would fit your crowd. I have also seen wedding bingo or scavenger hunt that gets guests interacting or taking pics of different wedding things. We will be setting up a "selfie station" and have props guests can use and have fun with. A lot cheaper than a photo booth!

We were the same! Not big dancers and our group wasn't big on dancing (which we knew ahead of time). We had a DJ to MC some things and play good tunes, but the main star of the show was our photobooth! It was perfect for our crowd, and we played a quick round of the shoe game, which was fun. Smiley smile

Yard games? Photo booth? Video both? The newlywed shoe game? Maybe something like those fill out cards with "advice for the bride and groom"? Interactive food or dessert bar?

We're having board game tables at our reception. And it helps that our venue also has cool things to do like feed flamingos that will definitely keep people entertained. But any type of fun interactive things like photo booths or games (my friends wedding had twister and it was a blast. Lots of funny photo opportunities).

Extraordinary amounts of alcohol. We had an Instax our friends loved playing with. We also had notebooks for table numbers where our friends and family could write things to us (each year on our anniversary we open and read the number that is that year!) so far we’ve only read one book but apparently our friends and family had a blast writing things (and drawing NSFW things).

I was definitely thinking of a selfie/ group pic area. Like a DIY photo booth!

Thanks! I will be looking into these. We do have some outside space. I love the board game table
