Waxing?!

Katie, on February 28, 2018 at 4:10 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 25

Hey All! I know this is sort of a personal question, but need to ask!

Is anyone getting a full bikini wax in lieu of your wedding and honeymoon?! Or have you ever had a wax like this before?

Any tips, advice or suggestions is appreciated!

Thanks!

I've done several Brazilian waxes. Grow out the hair in the desired wax area as much as possible. Theyll cut it down if they have to, but they'll be unable to do it if it's too short.

Great! How long does it typically take?! And how long does the wax last for before you notice more growing back??

Do it! I was getting them for a while last summer. Start a few months ahead of time and really plan it out. It’s a pain to keep up with but worth it for the wedding/honeymoon. The first time you have to let the hair grow for about three weeks then you go three weeks later, then some people can start going less frequently. I also recommend making appointments with the same person each time. Mine was really helpful in figuring out how to time things before my upcoming vacation.

I've had it done before for a beach vacation when I didn't want to have to shave. Whenever you rip hair out, there will be pain. Yes, It hurts but it's not unbearable. I took ibuprofen before and also had a glass of wine just so I'd be relaxed for the event.

You undress from the waist down, the wax tech will come in when you're ready and should explain each step as she goes along. You will be all spread out in a well lit area, but
There was no getting on all fours.
Full Brazilian includes booty, so be prepared to help spread the cheeks if you opt for that. I'd highly recommend leaving a strip, because the inner upper lips hurt the worst in my opinion

I didn't get a wax in lieu of my wedding/honeymoon, since I had both of those, but I did get a brazillian before both my wedding and honeymoon (since there was about a month in between).

If you've never had a Brazilian before you should definitely get it done sooner rather than later, in case you have any irritation.

Be prepared that it is not a fun experience. Some strips will be worse than others. I usually find the buttcrack strip to be the least painful, which was definitely different than what I was expecting my first time lol. The strips on the pubic bone tend to be the worst for me. Keep in mind that for the most part the pain only lasts for a few seconds after each strip, at least for me.

I typically feel very tender and swollen for a few days afterwards, but I have very sensitive skin.

The wax itself usually only takes 10-15 minutes or so. For me the hair starts growing back in about a 10 days, but typically grows back much finer than it was before.

I usually go 4-6 weeks in between waxes, depending on finances!

The whole process was under 30 minutes, lasts about 2 weeks before stubble

It hurts less the more you do it. The reason is because the hair is thinner. I go to European Wax Center. They use the hard wax (no fabric strip) and I find that it hurts less than the soft wax. A normal appointment takes less than 15 minutes and lasts 3-4 weeks depending on hair growth. The more you do it the longer it lasts.

I was just asking my coworkers about this lol I want everything bare before the wedding and honeymoon. She suggested that I start getting them now to see how I react. So I plan on getting one soon and going like once a month til May! She says it grows back softer and there’s less. Good luck 😳

Like others have said, start getting it done sooner rather than later in case your body has any reactions. It’s also better to do it a few times before your wedding because all the hair may not come out the first time. Like someone else said, your hair grows back finer each other, so it gets easier to pull it out. I’m coming up on my third one in preparation for my wedding in 3.5 weeks, so I’m hoping I’ll be totally bare this time.

Also know that it will hurt a bit, there’s no getting around that. Just take some Advil or something before. Your waxer will also try to minimize the pain as much as possible.

I got regular Brazilian waxes for nearly ten years before switching to laser!

If this is your first time, I highly suggest looking up European Wax Centers in your area. They use "comfort wax" and I don't know if it's really a thing but it does feel less painful! Take an Advil before going in, and try your best to relax. It's really not that bad, especially if you chat up the girl doing it! I would recommend starting as soon as you can, though, so you'll be used to it come wedding-time! I went every 4-6 weeks, depending on my schedule and waxer's recommendations. Contrary to a PP, I'd recommend taking it all off-- you're already there enduring it, just go full bare! Stop shaving like 2 weeks before your first appointment so the hair will be 1/4" long. The first time hurts the worst because the hair is coarsest, you'll notice as it grows back it will be very fine and soft, and it will be more patchy, which means less pain each time you go.

In lieu of?! Do you possibly mean "in preparation for"?

I did a bikini line wax to get ready for our honeymoon. I did it about a week before the wedding, and we left the day after the wedding on our honeymoon. It lasted the whole time. Yeah, it hurt, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Take a little ibuprofen before you go, and it will help. I've gone to get the sane wax another time and forgot to take the ibuprofen ahead of time and can say the ibuprofen actually does make a difference.

I haven’t but I’m thinking about it. The person I go to for my eyebrows and would for bikini wax suggested I start going in July (for my
October wedding) to make sure I tolerate it and don’t have any issues

I get a full Brazilian wax every 5 weeks. I HIGHLY recommend it for everyday life, and especially for a wedding/honeymoon! You won't have razorburn, you won't have stubble, and best of all you will be silky smooth with no need to shave for your entire trip! Also, after doing it regularly for a few years, the hair starts to grow back very thin and patchy. Throwing away my razor was the best decision I ever made for my skin. Smiley winking

I used to get (and give!) Brazilians all the time. They are great! You want to schedule it the week after your period (never when pmsing or on your period; it hurts more), take tylenol about an hour before the wax, and make sure you go to a waxist that specializes in all sorts of different types of body waxing. It will hurt like an mf-er but only in the moment, and then you will be SO glad you got it done. This may sound ridiculous, but it was honestly life-changing for me! I suggest starting a few months before your date so you can get used to the procedure, ensure there are no complications, and also since the longer you wax, the easier it becomes. Good luck!

I get a Brazilian “sugar” every four weeks. It has the same results as waxing but they use a room temperature ball of a a mixture of sugar, honey, water, and maybe lemon instead of hot wax. They also pull in the direction of hair growth. My sessions for a whole Brazilian takes 20 minutes and she tweezes out any ingrown baits I might have. Regrowth has gotten a lot slower and my hair is now thinner in between sessions (I’ve been doing it for about a year and a half monthly). I can go a full four weeks before feeling like I need to go again. I do it as regular maintenance. I usually take an ibuprofen before I go in. And I even got all the girls at my old job to give it a try. I would definitely say do it! I agree though to get it done sooner rather than later and maybe stick with it for a few times. I had difficulty with aftercare the first few times and it took me a while to figure it out. Good luck!

I get “sugared” Brazilians in lieu of traditional wax. I believe the sugar hurts less as it only adheres to the hair and not the skin. I’m less sore and less pink with sugaring compared to traditional wax.

You should grow your hair out for 3+ week prior to getting waxed the initial time- honestly that was the most annoying part because if you’re used the shaving you will have ingrowns and be annoyed at the growth in general. You’re likely to still have ingrown hairs after the first wax but they will lessen with each wax because the hair will all grow in the same way as time goes on.

Take motrin 45 mins before the wax. Don’t wear spandex or tight fitted clothing for the first day/night after your wax. And look into sugaring!

I’m planning on getting waxed before we fly out for our destination wedding! It’s great not to have to worry about shaving when you’re going to be in a bathingsuit.

I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but I really don’t think it’s unbearable to anyone - and It hurts less the more you do it. You have to grow out your hair or else it doesn’t really work out. I think the time it grows back in just depends on how often you get waxed/how fast your hair typically grows. The first time I got a wax, it took about two months to grow back.
I would definitely get it done once before it gets too close to the wedding because sometimes you can have a reaction to the wax. I go to Tommy’s Tanning and they do not use fabric wax strips, so i think that lessens the pain.

I do it every 4 weeks. Wear a dress. Do not to soft wax it will hurt more Bc it’s a longer process. Try to do the hard wax hurts but it’s about 15 mins all together. Definitely try to exfoliate before for a few days it will help. I don’t think any meds before is necessary.

I've had a couple done. I would make sure your estatician it extremely good. Don't do it near your period. Let your hair grow as much as you can. Mine took about 30 minutes (I could be off it's been a while). The hair was gone for a few weeks I want to say and when it starts growing back it's been fairly thin. I would say do it a few days before your wedding to give yourself time to not be very sore.
