Wax seals on invites?

Madison, on May 3, 2019 at 11:58 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6
Has anyone made their own wax seals for invitations? I love the ones from Minted, but they’re out of my price range. It will be a little more affordable to use the wax sticks for a hot glue gun and stamp them myself. Has anyone tried this and is it super time consuming? How did they turn out? Thanks!

We did them ourselves. I would suggest practicing on a couple random envelopes a couple of times just to make sure you know what you are doing before starting on the expensive invites lol It was time consuming but we have had a handful of people ask what they can do to help with the wedding so we recruited as many as we could (and trusted) and knocked them out.

Any ideas on where you’re getting your wax stuff? I want to do wax seals for our invites.

We did this! For about 85 invites, it took me about nine hours altogether. I did the heating the wax over a flame though. You have to pour it, stamp it, let it sit for a little bit, remove it, and then let it cool.

I bought the wax stick for the glue gun and a stamp from Hobby Lobby. I think I paid like $21 for 6 sticks, the glue gun and the stamp. I actually had a really fun time stamping the envelopes and I didn’t think they were time consuming;I’d rather stamp the envelope than stuff them with the invite!!!
Make sure to practice a few times so you know how much was to use!!!

We did the same. I got my supplies on aliexpress, and did a combination of colors melted together for our galaxy themed suite. They were a bit time consuming but beautiful! I agree practice, and order from overseas well ahead of time. Our stamp was also from there and only 2.50.
I suggest having a hard plastic ice pack nearby. Lay the stamp on it once you remove to cool it while melting the other wax. Remove, wipe to dry and stamp away.
we mixed three colors, my son and I practiced and came up with the color combo together. Just melted them in the spoon, and did a swirl effect like a galaxy from center out. It mixed the colors amazingly. Ours also had some sparkle in them.
