Wax seal post office

Danika, on August 13, 2019 at 5:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
Quick question! I just tried to drop our save the dates off at the post office and the guy told me because they had the seal on the outside it would cost extra because they can’t run them trough the machine (my bad, should have looked in to that) but when I asked him how much more he said they would need 15 stamps each? That seemed a bit steep. Just wondering what your experience was with wax seal and mailing!

Yep. We had to have a .70 stamp for our invitations because of the seal

    Not true.

I did a wax seal and it cost nothing extra. Try a different post office.

Every post office is different so someone else’s experience might not be yours. My post office doesn’t even offer hand canceling and other people’s local post office does for no charge. So you can check with another post office in a nearby town and see if it’s different or pay the price for extra stamps.

That seems very steep. My post office in PA wouldn't send wax sealed envelopes so I printed my seal on stickers instead.

We did wax seals with our invites and we just used one forever stamp, we had zero issues.

What the heck? We just sent out ours with wax seals and had no problem. 1 stamp each. I’d go to a different post office!

15¢ or 15 stamps? A non machinable stamp currently cost an extra 15¢ for first class mail. Maybe you mis heard the clerk.

We did wax seals on ours too and it was just 1 forever stamp but I did take them to a different post office then ours just because the people at ours are not very friendly.
So definitely try a different PO.

How are you fitting 15 stamps on your envelope. That sounds like a lot 🤔

That seal would of made it an non- machinable letter so there would to have been an extra 15cent stamp needed. I work for the postal service , when brides come to the counter I make sure they get the correct information so there is no delay in getting those invites out and them coming back. But ppl are def correct in saying some post office do things different but that that additional postage is correct and really should be what every office is following 🙃 we had to put 70cent on ours which is steep but I knew it was coming.

We sent a few of our early invites with seals on the exterior and they arrived ripped off the envelopes for several people. We didnt pay to hand cancel them (15 cents per envelope) so I'm not sure if they got ripped off by the machine or just rough handling. We opted to do the rest using ribbon and sealing it with a wax stamp for a belly band. It cost extra for the weight but was worth it to get it to arrive in tact.

Thank you everyone! 15 cents is much more doable and understandable than 15 stamps! Ill go back in later this week and hope I just misheard him!
