Waterproofing the bottom of your dress?

Macy, on January 17, 2018 at 12:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

I am getting married in March at a Ski resort in Colorado. My ceremony and photos will be outdoors on a ski slope in the snow. I am worried about the bottom of my dress getting wet and looking terrible. Does anyone know of some product that will make the bottom of my dress water resistant? It is satin at the bottom so I am afraid of something changing the color or looking dirty.

Here is a photo (not the best I know) of my dress:

I don't think there is anything that wouldn't stain and/or leave a watermark on satin.

Talk to someone in alterations maybe? I've never heard of anything you're looking for.

Could the snow be shoveled away, and you have some type of carpet or flooring to stand on?

I was looking into using Scotchgard Fabric protector....has anyone ever tried it?

The snow cant be shoveled away (its too deep and then there would just be mud underneath). and I could maybe get carpet but I love the look of the snow and carpet would be difficult to get to the top of the mountain.

I know I cant be the only bride to get married in the snow...and definitely not outdoors. Has no one ever had to deal with wet grass before?

Lay down a clear plastic sheet and let the photographer Photoshop it out.

I just did an adventure elopement in the rain in Washington this month in a ball gown with a train that was hemmed 1.5 inches too long! The dress at bottom was pretty trashed by the end of the day, but we got amazing photos! A good photographer should know how to edit some of the dirt and wet look.
