Watered down bar service?

Is this normal at weddings? At the last one i attended, Id order a screwdriver. The bartender would fill the cup with ice, then fill half the cup with orange juice, add a splash of vodka, then water to fill the rest of the glass. Is that normal? I dont know if my venue will do this but if they do im...

Is this normal at weddings? At the last one i attended, Id order a screwdriver. The bartender would fill the cup with ice, then fill half the cup with orange juice, add a splash of vodka, then water to fill the rest of the glass. Is that normal? I dont know if my venue will do this but if they do im gonna be upset with how much Im paying for them to water the drinks down...

    @Nonna: After almost a decade of being in the restaurant industry, I've seen my fair share of bad eggs... and mgmt asking the bar to water down drinks. I've found it's almost always indicative of a much larger problem (i.e. the restaurant/venue cannot pay their bills/credit accounts). For better or worse, many of those places usually don't last long. I always keep an eagle eye on the bartender when they're pouring for me.

    Fortunately, all if not most reputable wedding bartenders (via caterer, venue or otherwise) are always transparent with their practices and what they need to stock for your event. They would never even think to do that, especially when it's on the bride and groom's dime and their own reputation is on the line.
