Warm Weather Groom/groomsmen Attire

Amber, on October 1, 2019 at 3:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
Hey guys, I'm looking for some alternate ideas to the usual suit or tux attire. While FH looks SO good in a suit and tie, he also sweats at the drop of a hat. I know that he wants to look really nice and keep it formal, but he'll burn up in a suit (even in comfortable weather) and have sweat all down his back if he takes his jacket off at the reception. Please leave me your ideas/suggestions of any outfits you've seen or had in your own wedding! Smiley smile

Maybe just a vest instead of a jacket ?

I've thought of that, but I think he would feel too "casual" in just a vest. Knowing him, he'll want to feel dressed to the nines lol

Well there's not really any other options if he wants to be formal and dressed up. Either wear just a shirt, wear the best without the coat, or wear suspenders. The only other thing I can suggest is when he takes off his coat is to change into another shirt

Thank you! He's all about breathable clothing, he has to dress in business casual attire in a 90+ degree building everyday so we always end up buying golf shirts/pants. This helps a lot Smiley smile

My fiancé is going to be wearing linen. We’ll be on the beach in Key West, so it’ll be totally appropriate. We actually decided on a light gray shirt with some embroidery and white pants. If you want to be a little more formal than that, there’s lots of options out there with linen which is a much cooler material to wear when it’s warm.

I actually just googled some warm-weather formal wear and one thing that popped up was linen! I doubt they'd have specific fabric rental suits, so we may just have to use this as an opportunity for him to buy another suit, just a breathable one lol

    Thanks for your help!

My husband is a "big guy" (he calls himself) and sweats a lot. We got married in July in Colorado (so the hottest month of the year). Can you just have an indoor ceremony and he puts his jacket on right before? And wear a good antiperspirant and carry a handkerchief for sweating? Or pick a venue with good AC? They also make undershirts that are supposed to help with sweating.

My husband doesn’t like the heat specially when dress in suits or tuxes. We got married in Mexico, outdoors wedding at 4:30 pm so there’s was sun directly beating us and there was heat. When we went the year before for our venue and vendor meet and greet we experienced the heat and this is something that really worried him. Because of that and the special color we wanted he ended up doing a custom tux. He was able to pick the fabric and interior and make it very light and resistant to heat. Certain materials help with heat more than others. If you find the prices of custom made tuxes high then buy one with good fabric and transform it. You can make it much lighter by removing the inside layer or replacing with a fabric that works best on heat. I also recommend getting the right shirt as this is what’s closer to his body heat. My husband truly had no issues with the heat AT ALL and never complained that it was hot.

We're having an outdoor ceremony in somewhat warm weather and if it rains, the indoor option is "well-ventilated" but not air conditioned. The reception area has great AC though, so we'll only be outdoors for maybe an hour for the ceremony and pictures. He's not a big guy in the slightest, but lord he sweats lol. I think the handkerchief is a great idea for his forehead and I'll definitely see if I can find a good undershirt for him. Thanks for the ideas!

I think a custom suit/tux is the route we'll probably end up taking, along with a good quality undershirt. From what I've read, linen suits are supposed to be really breathable. The sun won't necessarily be beating down, but even the slightest bit of warm weather will get him sweating lol. Thank you for your input!

That’s probably the best route and I can honestly say my husband loved the experience of custom piece. He was able to pick every detail and personalize it to our wedding. He wore a linen suit for our welcome party at the beach the day before and it was refreshing just a lot more casual because of the material. For our wedding he did light tropical wool and silk lining but nothing in between. I’ll share some pics of how he was able to add our wedding date to the tux as well as pick the lining and the linen from our welcome party.
    Highly recommend it.
    Good luck!
