One of my 'friends' recently got engaged. She sent me a text with a picture and said.."this happened I love it! I'm so excited" Fast Forward to today she calls me heartbroken. She said while cleaning she found a receipt from Walmart...and on the receipt she seen the purchase for her ring. I waited for the rest but that was it...Honestly, I didn't see the issue. So I said, "What's the issue?" she very loudly said 'HE GOT MY RING FROM WALMART!..How would you feel if your engagement ring came from Walmart?!?!...I told I don't think I would mind. She said that I am only saying that because I got my ring from the jewelry store but no one wants a ring from Walmart.I suddenly had an 'emergency' because I couldn't take it anymore...But I really don't think I would care...After all it is the thought that counts..right? Would you care if your engagement ring came from Walmart? If so, why?

Agree. The concept of buying quality is highly important to me. Which is why we also scratched off Zales, Kay, etc off our list - department store and chain store quality are almost equally questionable in my book. For buying a piece of jewelry that’s forever - we wanted a reputable independent jeweler who’ll stand by the pieces they sell.

I would not want a Walmart ring either. And I wouldn’t want to marry someone who didn’t have the same interest in buying quality items as I do.

My ring is gorgeous, and my FH bought it from someone who had worn it before me. I may be weird, but that doesnt bother me at all. We are young, and it was the cheapest way to get a quality ring! I would love it if it had come from the dump, honestly. I don't get the big deal. Rings are trivial things anyway. What they represent is the most important. I don't see a problem with someone spending a "Walmart" budget to show the person they love how much they love them, and any ring is better than no ring, right? My ring is a higher quality used then what we would've been able to afford buying it new. I say it's the thought, and the love behind it that counts, not the piece of jewelry.

Some men just do not know better. If they shop at Walmart for everything, and their parents did they might not realize WHERE to look that is a jewelry store, Hell before I got engaged I was looking on amazon, and Etsy because to be honest; that’s where I shopped! I still do and honestly the amount t of money the type of ring I wanted was way more than I’d want him to spend. My H went to the jewelry store his parents had always gone to, but if you just always shop there, you might not understand or even know that there are more quality places that you can buy a reasonable ring from. Men don’t realize why she would be upset. Her fh most likely doesn’t even get it.

This is where I stand as well. Is she with her FH because she loves him or for the jewelry she expects him to buy for her?

I have 4 very important rings in my life, my promise ring, my engagement ring, and my wedding set... all of which came from Wal-Mart! I have went to zales, kays, etc... and the quality is there, if you get the correct brand at Wal-Mart.. like the keepsake brand/collection is a high quality, so us the forever bridge brand/collection... I have taken 2 of those rings to a local jeweler and they could not tell that it come from Wal-Mart.. I absolutely love all of my rings and I'm just as married as someone with a 20,000 dollar ring...

Hmm... before I got engaged, I was even looking at moissanite (idk how to spell that) which is a stone that basically looks like diamond. I wasn't concerned with the price tag or even if it had a real diamond in it. Wasn't important. But would I want to say "He GoT iT aT WaLmArT!!!" when someone asked me about my ring? No I would not.

To each their own, for sure. But I would like to tell you my story. I got married at 18 to a guy that was all about that $$. He made sure to buy me an engagement ring from a ”Fancy Jewelry Store” & of course, then upgraded for our wedding. We were divorced not even 10 months after our wedding day. All the money in the world couldn’t buy me a good marriage, or a husband that treated me right. Fast forward 6 years & here I am now, Christmas Morning 2019 with my boyfriend. 2019 was a really hard year financially for us, we had decided to not get gifts for each other, or so I thought. We were getting ready for lunch with my family & he pulled a little grey box from his bath robe. They didn’t have my size but he went ahead & bought a size bigger, it came with a free sizing so I had to take it in & get my size checked just in case anyways. The ring was from Wal-Mart y’all. But you know what? I absolutely DO NOT CARE. I don’t know how much money he spent on it, & it doesn’t matter. Because in my mind, the time it took him to pick out the ring for me, & the secret he kept, loving me enough to wanna make a life together & even the terrible wrap job.. that’s worth WAAAY more to me.

My ring came from Walmart and after well over 2 years it just lost it's first tiny stone. I did the shop around myself because I didn't want him going into debt trying to get me a ring out of his price range.

My ring style and size in a normal jewelry store would be like 2,000 dollars minimum. At Walmart it was 55. It is a three round halo ring. Found one similar in size and style at Shaneco. Almost 3k.
Quality is great, but honestly you could not pay me to wear nearly 3,000 dollars on my hand all day. My Anxiety would kill me. My ring is beautiful, suits my hand perfectly, and if it gets damaged no big deal.
I honestly think it depends on the person as to whether a walmart ring is ok...for you quality matters, for me not bubble wrapping my hand is important lol.

My ring was from Walmart and it's beautiful. I don't care where he got it, I'm just glad to have it. And him. But I've often told him I'd be happy with a ring pop, he was the one who wanted something big and pretty
