Walking down the isle

Renee, on May 14, 2019 at 5:22 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 11
I don't know who to have walk me down the isle. My dad died when I was a kid, my grandfather passed away within the past few years, and my uncle isn't an option. At my last wedding, I had my (now ex) husband's best man walk me down. He was older and almost like a father figure. Someone I could go to for advice and who was there for both of us. And honestly, I'm glad someone was there bc there's no way I could've walked down the isle alone lol Talk about stage fright. So my question is, would it be weird for me to ask my best friend to walk me down the isle? I can't really think of anyone else. There's always my FH's dad but I dont feel close to him like that. He's really nice but I just don't connect with him

You should do what feels right to you. I see no problem asking your best friend to walk with you, are they part of the wedding party?

No, he's not. We're keeping the wedding party small and our kids are the bridesmaids and groomsmen.

I understand. I have two co-MOHs and FH has his BM and one GM. I personally see no problem with your best friend escorting you, I would just make sure he has a reserved seat that he can slip into.

I didn't meet my dad until I was nearly 18, so having him walk me down the aisle was never even a consideration, but my mom suggested that she would do it. I don't know what your relationship is like with your mom or if that is something you would want to consider, but it's an option. I am actually planning to have our son walk me down the aisle, he will be six when we get married next year. Whatever you decide, it has to be what feels right to you. Happy planning!

I would pull a Meghan Markle and walk down by myself.

I've thought about walking alone, I just don't know if I would be able to walk alone.

You could ask your friend. Or how would you feel about being escorted by your fiance? That's what I wanted to do before my dad said he wanted to walk me.

My dad passed about 4 years ago...I was going to ask my brother but then my grandfather was already all excited and to be honest I might be the only one he gets to walk down the aisle, he's almost 90. So I'm having him do it. Do you have a brother you're close with? You could also walk by yourself.

I thought about my fiancé walking me down but I like the idea of being walked down to him. I want to see the look in his eyes when he sees me for the first time

I only have a sister. That's sweet that your grandfather is doing it. Walking alone isn't an option. Lol I'm too shy and have a bit of stage fright. I definitely need that extra support

So I've decided to go with my oldest son. I thought he was a little young, and I didn't want to make his brother's jealous, but after talking about it with the FH, we thought it would be nice for him to do it. Thanks for all the suggestions
