Walking down the aisle

Cheryl, on February 28, 2021 at 4:36 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 11
We are right at the month mark for our wedding. Mostly everything is done except a few things here and there. We are having a very small intimate back yard wedding at our house. I have narrowed down 3 songs that I like to walk down the aisle too. We opted out of a bridal party and our music will be on a phone a a bluetooth speaker.

What song did you choose to walk down the aisle too? How did you finally figure out which one you wanted? Did anyone get extremely emotional? All three of these songs make me very emotional and the tears start. I hate it, but know that they are happy tears.

Keep in mind the music will only be a few seconds, not the full song. My choice of your options is Canon In D.

Pick the song you love most. It doesn't have to make you cry.

I really like Cannon in D it was my first choice a few months ago. Then I found the version of Falling in love with you and fell in love with that. My fiance nixed my orginal plan, which was to walk down the aisle to one of our/his favorite video game music. Oh definitely not going for crying, I just can't help it haha.

I'm walking down the aisle to a live piano/violin duo of A Thousand Years! I don't get emotional at songs, but every time I hear it I can picture myself walking down the aisle to it.

It's a beautiful song!!! I think some of my emotions right now is aunt flo is visiting so any time I think of anything wedding related I tear up, plus this is our second go at our wedding. We had to cancel 2 weeks before our wedding date last year.

    Dear Cheryl,

We're actually doing a 6 1/2 hour video/projector/music ensemble that will last through the ceremony and reception. At one point, we have our favorite closing song from Samurai Champloo, and the *hold* music for our speeches is the theme music from the Pizza Parlor from that old online game called Club Penguin. My FH is a bit old to have played it, but I definitely did as a young child and I could listen to that tune for hours on end! It's always okay to mix it up a bit, who will notice other than like-minded fans, anyway?Smiley smile

Haha, and I definitely understand the crying part. We have a string quartet and mariachi version of the traditional wedding march, and as soon as the guitarrón mexicano chimes in with the strings, I always cry. And it's been two years of planning. Tears are okay! I feel like I'm getting them all out now so that I won't mess up my makeup during the ceremony. Plus, I cry like Kim Kardashian and that's a no-go, haha.

Thank you for your post! I loved your original pick as well, although I disagree with Michelle about choosing based off of the fact that you'll only hear a tidbit of the song. Ours is about a minute and 30 seconds, and I have a LONG way to walk and am already worried (a year out) that I won't make it to the altar in time, especially considering our music is on a set schedule!

Yes!! I vaguely remember club penguin. More so the trying to sneak and make an account hahaha.
I was bummed when he shot down my idea of Fianl Fantasy music. It's such a beautiful song, but he told me since he knows the meaning of the song that would be all he could think about, and It's not a happy song.(one of the main characters dies)
I'm hoping the more I listen to whichever song I pick the more I'll get a tad bit used to it so to speak. Our patio is fairly long and is the length of our whole house, I will be walking from around front to the back. (so no one sees me before hand other than my mom and his mom.) So I have a bit of a walk, if I time it m perfect we could hear almost all of the whichever song I choose. It has been a crazy few years. Our wedding we had planned last year was a destination wedding (I felt more stressed) that I didn't have to plan ANYTHING wedding wise. Most planning was for my hair and making sure everyone was on time. But unfortunately COVID caused us to postpone, and I had my heart set on April. We started dating April 2016, got engaged April 2018, and getting married April 2021

    Cheryl,

My FH must know your pain! I've shot down a lot of folk songs that we both love (because they're all about people dying or being left at sea, or leaving their husbands and regretting it, or marrying the wrong woman- lol it's all sad and morose). We started planning in January of 2019 and luckily settled on January 22, 2022, so that my FH would be finished with college. I can't imagine having to overhaul and change everything like you did!

Also, I'm also walking from the front of the home around to the back so that no-one sees me xD. It's going to be a long walk in a heavy dress with platform boots that add six inches to my height but I know we can both handle it, haha! Just wish we could maybe slow-down the wedding balladSmiley tongue .

Thanks for your response! I remember being jealous of all the "member" accounts, too! I saw a meme the other day that was like "Club Penguin Memberships are when I realized that I was a part of the proletariat" and I thought that was hilarious, haha!

It was heart breaking in the beginning, we were both scared and didn't know what exactly was going to happen. I ended up getting laid off from work from the end of March till July so in a way it was a blessing in disguise. But we made it and are both excited that we have just a few weeks left.
I don't wear heels often so opted for a pair of block heels since I'm somewhat comfortable in those. I'm barely 5'1 and my FH is almost 6ft so I wanted to add a little hight to myself.

    Dear Cheryl,

I got these amazing, platform (so you're foot isn't stretched six whole inches lol, it's more like 3) sparkly boots from DollsKill for about $80. They're lined with what feels like silk and are SUPER comfortable. They look white or silver but actually match perfectly with my ivory dress because they're kind of reflective. I would highly recommend! I've only been able to dance and strut in them around the home (my grandmother literally is keeping all of my stuff locked away, because I'll try and wear it before the wedding), but they feel super sturdy, and almost like an extension of own legs: not at-all unstable. My FH is 6'3 and I'm 5'1, too, so I wanted to make sure he didn't have to do a Ostrich stretch for our first kiss as a married couple xD.

I'm so glad to hear that you guys have mostly worked things out, and have been able to work through these hard times! Campbell graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the Culinary Institute of America and we've both always worked in hospitality, so moving back into our grandparents/parents/other grandparents the past year has been grueling on our morale. Also, finding a job in hospitality right now is close to impossible... Luckily, we've found management positions in the small town where his "family home" is, which is where we plan to get married. So, it kind of works out!Smiley laugh

Lastly; small backyard weddings are going to be the newest flex, I promise you! They're gaining a lot of attention on social media and it's so much more exclusiveSmiley sexy !

Holy moly girl!!! Those are amazing, but alas my clumsy self would end up in the ER the day of my wedding 🤣😂🤣
I was thankful I got to go back to work rather quickly even though things still aren't 100% in our office(mental health drs office) My FH thankfully works at a distillery and they never shut down. Switched one line over to hand sanitizer for a few months but they have worked through everything.
Hopefully with what seems like a light at the end of the tunnel the hospitality end picks back up for the both of you. That on itself is hard, us trying to plan a wedding. My FH was a bit apprehensive of doing a back yard wedding, but finally came around when I told him it's what I really wanted. He has been married before(they were young) and had the big wedding already, so he didn't want a big wedding. I was more than happy to not have a big wedding. We are having my parents, his parents, both of his grandmother's, and hisb3 kids plus maybe one of his cousins and their SO.

    Dear Cheryl,

That sounds absolutely lovely! Yeah, things will pick back up. Like Joe Dirt said, we've gotta keep on keepin' on! It's awesome that your FH works in a distillery! We're huge fans of the wine, beer and liquor businesses and one of my FH's concentrations in college was brewing (he did very poorly in those classes, haha, definitely not a scientist, by any means, haha)! Since we're having a smaller wedding than anticipated, I am bummed about one thing: Campbell doesn't mind not inviting his distant relatives because apparently "every family has their make or break moments?" Anyway, I'm very close with all of my extended family, even ones that I haven't met! So, cutting my great aunt who took me to South Dakota when I was 11 or my father's parents, who live out of the country, was hard. However, we do have just about everyone who we know wants to be there and really matter to us; which is also a nice feeling! Also; it's a bit liberating knowing that I have people who will understand some of our more risque music choices, and also appreciate the "old-world charm" we included. I'm sure my Great Aunt would be appalled to hear Lizzo or Anderson.Paak's Tiny Desk Concert, while my mother and grandmother would roll their eyes and say, "really, Aubri?" and take a shrug and a smile as a valid response.
