Walking down the aisle!!!!

Wendy, on June 8, 2019 at 10:05 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 13
Back story:: I don’t have a relationship with my dad anymore, I’ve know my stepdad for 10yrs and he has been nothing but a better father than my dad ever was...

I don’t feel as close to my stepdad as I should for him to walk me down the isle.. I told my mom I was walking alone and she gave me this whole speech.. I know my stepdad will feel a little hurt but would understand.. he has my sister to walk down eventually lol..

So my mom gave me the idea to have my brothers walk me down and I love it!! I think my stepdad will be more understanding about that compare to if I walk alone..

Now the question, how do I ask my brothers? They always saw themselves as groomsmen but my FH its not having any except for the best man.. what would be a cute way to ask them!?

idead, thoughts?? Thank you !!!

Invite your brothers for coffee or lunch and ask them in person! I'm sure they'll be thrilled and honored!

Is there a common interest you could use between you and your brothers to have a punny little ask?

(To be extra on this) Like, for example, if you all enjoyed hiking you could have a card say "There's this trail I want to go hiking on, it leads to the love of my life. Will you help me make the trek down the aisle?" and if you wanna be super extra do it like a bm proposal and include some hiking gear or something

Sure thing! Smiley smile Glad to help. (also if hiking isn't your thing, it was just something that came to me while thinking about this for you, you could probably google all sorts of bm proposals and just adjust them to be for your brothers instead)

I would just do like a group call and ask them straight out or like a previous post said you could send a little gift to leach of them and ask. Explain how important it is to you to have them walk you down the aisle so they won’t be disappointed if they aren’t groomsmen.

I’m doing the same! My dad passed away when I was 8 years old so my older brother is going to “hold his place” and walk me down the aisle. The way I asked him was I got him a glass beer mug from Things Remembered. On one side I had engraved “I can’t say I Do without You!” And on the other side I engraved “Big Bro, will you walk my down the aisle? Love, Little one” (our nicknames for each other). He absolutely loved it! And it was something he could keep and use. I also think it made him feel very special. So maybe look into a special gift like that? Hope that helps!

I like Rachel’s idea and like she said you can adjust this to a common interest you have with them. I just want to add that I think they’ll be more honor and thrill to walk you down the aisle than be a groomsmen. They’ll love that.

I was going to ask my uncle to give me away but he's the best man in my wedding. My dad passed away almost 20 years ago. So, my mom is giving me away.
