Walking down the aisle music

Mrs. Barton, on January 23, 2017 at 12:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

I'm a little confused about how to have the music done while everyone walks down the aisle. We are hiring a DJ. But what I wanted to know is that did you guys choose one song and everyone walked down with that song playing including yourself (the bride) or did you have a song for your bridesmaids to walk down to then had it changed to the song you picked to walk the aisle to? Sorry if this sounds silly, just want to know your takes on it!

We had a pianist play the music for the ceremony. We did The Intro by Xx for the bridal party to enter. Then we did the piano version of our first dance song I'm Yours by The Script when I came in.

I have some where over the rainbow for my bridesmaid on a piano and then I'm walking to say you won't let go the violin version.

We are going all the way with ours lol. FH and his guys will have a song, my BM's will have a song and then I will have a song. I didn't even think that the guys would have one, but when our DJ asked if they were going to be walking the aisle or coming from the side FH said walking the aisle. I figure he didn't really give much input (even though I tried to get him to) on the rest of the wedding I would for sure let him have this, that and he is pretty excited to pick the song for them, its pretty adorable. lol

I am actually having 3 songs. One for family members (we have quite a few coming down the aisle). One for the bridesmaids and groomsmen. And one for myself. DJs are able to fade in and out of songs to give a nice transition and not an awkward pause and random start up of the song. Plus you definitely want a song for your self, it's your day! Give your self the spot light even for just a second.

We are havig one song for grandparents/parents and a different song for the rest of the bridal party. This is in part due to an unusual song beig used, but it also just seems to work better

I haven't quite thought of what I want my girls to walk down the aisle to - I'm going to leave that up to them, but I want it to fit my song. I want it to be the instrumental version for "Only Hope" by Switchfoot - If you've seen "A Walk to Remember" then you may know what song I am talking about Smiley smile

Most brides get their own song and it's a very dramatic moment. How many songs for the other folks often depends on how many there are and how long their walk is. If it's only your parents and one bridesmaid and they only have to go 10 feet, maybe just one song Smiley smile. But some places it's like a mile. One time this couple had a huge party and a very long walk and so I had to repeat the song they wanted like four times.

Your DJ should be able to help you with this stuff, and an experienced one who knows the venue can help even more.

We originally wanted live musicians but that wasn't in the budget so we just played our playlist on Spotify via the sound system of our ceremony venue. We had someone manning the entire thing- she was lovely!
