Walk Myself Down the Aisle?

I don't want my mom or dad to walk me down the aisle. I was thinking about doing it myself. What are your thoughts? Has anyone ever done this?

I am planning to walk myself down the aisle too! I love my dad, and we're closer than we used to be, but I want to do this for me. What better way to say to your new husband: "I choose you. I give myself to you freely." Good luck with you decision!

I agree with the rest of the posts here. I am newly engaged myself and am in the midst of planning my wedding. Nothing is set in stone yet, but I envisioned walking myself down the aisle and it gave me such peace knowing that was my decision. I ran that past my mother and sister and they were definitely not okay with it; they wanted my step dad or both my biological dad & step dad to walk me down. At the end of the day, it is YOUR wedding. You do whatever makes you most happy. I told them that deciding who is going to walk me down the aisle isn't the most important aspect of the ceremony. To me, what's most important on my big day will be my man standing, watching me walk down. All I will care about that moment in time is my future husband and the unconditional love we have for each other.

I walked myself down the aisle too. I see nothing wrong with it though I have a close relationship with my father but the thought of him giving me away doesn´t felt right. So i walked myself halfway and then my FH came halfway to meet me and we walked together entering this marriage life. Im dont really agree of getting married means departing your birth family, its like an expansion of family and my FH agreed on that.
