Wal-Mart gift registry?

FJB, on December 16, 2016 at 9:06 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

Anybody here have/had a Wal-Mart gift registry? We're registered at Target, have a good range of price points, and I feel like Wal-Mart will have a lot of little odds and ends that could use updating and it's not pricey.

Ehhh I personally would much rather support Target - I would do what @LeahH suggested so that you can keep all your "odds and ends" on one registry.

I would more likely buy from a Target if I was a guest.

@LeahH, I have been seeing more amazon registries, but am not entirely sure how it works. Do people pick items from it and then have it shipped to them? Or? Lol

I couldn't buy from a Walmart registry, for ethical reasons and the fact their goods are total shit and not worthy of being a wedding gift. You'd be getting a check for sure.

@future there is a little add on for your browser for Amazon wishlists/ registries, when you click on it it will add an item from whatever site you'd like. When your guest clicks to purchase it, it sends them to that site.

I have a Walmart one because my side of the family is on the poor side (Target is "expensive") and also as far as I know there are no Target stores in Vermont or at least not where my folks live.

So far we've gotten only stuff from our Target registry.

Personally, I like the Target one way more. Yes, Walmart had more options that were cost friendly to some of my family but I think most of their stuff lacks quality.

We originally had walmart and target but then we went to bed bath and beyond and decided to do that instead of walmart. Personally, I shop at walmart all the time. I think it does have some really nice stuff. But overall Target had more home items that fit my personal style and what I want my home to look like. I'm planning on going to walmart on my own to get all the little odds and ends we might want. I put plenty of lower cost items on both of our registries so it should still totally be fine for our friends and family who will be looking for things at a lower price. It's really up to your preference. Can you find the items you want at other places for the same price point? If so I think it's worth looking into the other options people have posted!

If you think there is any chance any of your guests are "boycotting" Target I'd do a WM registry too because we were only registered at Target and then the whole bathroom situation happened and I refused to add a new registry because I thought the whole boycott was childish.

Long story short I got a bunch of stuff from Walmart that are similar to what I registered for at Target but not what I wanted (colors, design, etc.) and I can't take them back because I have no receipt and no registry.

If this isn't an issue for you then I'd say you're good with whatever you like!

Not as big as other issues stated but with Walmart you can't put a gift message with the registry item.

Can't you get the same odds and ends at Target?

I am an anti Walmart person. Saving a few cents or dollars on an item and is not worth the low employee wages, poor employee benefits and general chaos feeling of the store to me.

I have never really been a Walmart shopper. I will never shop there now because my grandmother got a job there a few years ago and she said she has never been treated so poorly by an employer as she was by Walmart. She's 70 years old and has had a lot of jobs in her life. It was so awful that she left after 2 months.

I live in a rural area, wal-mart would just be one of the most practical places to have because people will have to travel a half an hour to get to target. Macy's could be another option though.

I had a walmart, bloomingdales, and an anthropologie registry that were all synced to myregistry.com so it was nice that i just had one huge list. Also walmart had a lot of store perks so that definitely was a plus

Where I grew up the only store within a 2hr radius was a Wal-Mart (and still is). Most people I know have had a Wal-Mart registry for those who didn't travel or order online and then another one for those who online shopped or went up to the mall frequently.

With the amazon registry it get shipped either to the purchaser or the recipient just like any other online registry.

To some, Walmart is very accessible and cost effective. I think it's a good idea.

I feel like you should choose Target OR Walmart. Both seems weird to me since I also kind of put them in the same category.

Side note, I go so far out of my way to avoid shopping at Walmart it's not even funny. Most people I know would definitely not go there for a wedding gift, but I realize that's anecdotal.

My husband is a manager at Walmart and we have never had any problems with any of their products...but we had a registry at Walmart and target and bed bath and beyond. No one ordered anything from Walmart so I wouldn't even make a registry there

I feel like those stores are pretty much the same. Walmart is cheap because it's poor quality. I would not want a gift from there or to buy someone a gift from there.

I would skip Walmart. But that's mainly because I don't shop there often.
