Waiting to take your honeymoon?

Mrs. B in 2015, on March 8, 2015 at 7:26 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 24

The future FH and I aren't taking our honeymoon right away. He wants to go away for at minimum 7 days (no complaint here), which after the wedding would be difficult to do because I need to relocate to a new city to be with him and he just starting a new job and wants to have more vacation days accrued; he has enough now, but doesn't want to deplete them. So we are going to take our honeymoon about 3 to 4 weeks later and combine it with withe July 4th holiday weekend.

Anyone else not going on their honeymoon right after they get married? If so, why did you make that choice?

Our honeymoon will be about a month after the wedding. We have shared custody of FH's sons, and they live with us for pretty much the whole summer, so we are postponing our honeymoon until they go back to their mom's house at end of August.

FH just started a new job on February 2. His vacation time kicks in 6 months later, August 2. The wedding is July 11. Technically we could go right after the wedding, but it makes no sense to do that seeing how he will be getting paid for it if we just wait 3 weeks.

We are waiting because I will be relocating where FH lives and want to get settled in right away. And FH is technically out of season in August. It's just better logistically for us.

We're waiting until December (winter break) because we're both educators and can't really take time off.

We're getting married in October and the honeymoon isn't until December. I can't leave for a week while my kids are in school so we're going on Christmas break Dec 19-24. My kids are at their dad's for Christmas this year so I won't have to get babysitters or family to watch them.

We actually revisited this last night and decided we were going to go on a proper honeymoon right after the wedding. We originally wanted Europe, but we will save it for later since we need something more relaxing. St. Lucia, Costa Rica and Jamaica are what we have narrowed it down to. I started a new job about a month ago but don't get vacation until next year, so my days will be unpaid. It sucks, but we decided it was worth it.

We won't be just because financially Its just too much. We both would rather save up so the hm is paid for. We will be probably having our hm 3-4 months later.... Weddings are so much of a world wind I want to take a step back once it's all over, save up and be excited for the hm in a few months. I think it would be too stressful going right away....way too much to plan for in my opinion

We are waiting a week after the wedding, so we can unwind and put the house back together after all the rush. Wedding on April 25th, leaving for 6 days at Disney World on May 3rd. Smiley smile

We're going a year after the wedding... maybe. Or maybe never. Just financially it's too much and I don't get vacation time at my new job until next year. So we are calling it an anniversary trip. I'm kind of sad we're not going on a honeymoon and I have to go back to work on the Monday right after but that's life.

We're getting married June 13th and we're not leaving for our honeymoon (2 weeks in Bali) until December 27th. Honestly, we don't want to leave Ontario when it's FINALLY warm. We're going to wait until it's cold and miserable again to go away Smiley smile

We are going three months after the wedding. The summer months are busy at our jobs and things slow down after the first weekend in september. It made the most sense plus it gave us a little extra time to save money!

We are waiting like 4 days. I never wanted to go immediately after, it seemed too stressful to plan everything AND a long vacation i would definitely forget something important haha. By waiting a few days, we can get all our gifts situated, take checks to the bank, I am having my dress and bouquet preserved so those can go off to their locations, and it makes it easier to make arrangements for our cat while we're gone. The deciding factor was also that by flying out on Wednesday instead of Monday, we are saving $400! Can't complain about that Smiley smile

It's good to know that this is not a foreign idea. I certainly understand about personal and financial priorities. It sounds like this not an uncommon thing anymore.

We're doing a mini moon right after the wedding just to relax per the advice of a friend. We're waiting til fall for the honeymoon. We're waiting mainly because FH started a new job in Jan. and doesn't have enough vacation accrued yet and they used to let people go into the hole but unfortunately they just changed their policy because of abuse.

We'll be going on our one year. Part of it is monetary because we won't have the money to pay for a honeymoon on top of paying for a wedding. Also, I'm in grad school and I will be taking courses during the summer. The first summer session ends 2 days before my wedding and the next session starts the following Monday.

We are getting married in June and will go on our honeymoon in December. We made the decision mostly to save money but also because I'm a teacher so it's either summer (too soon) or winter break. Smiley smile
