Waiting for Engagement Photos (almost 4 months later)

I want to start first with saying we love our photographer and she has been super responsive and just lovely to work with. We are so excited for her to capture our wedding day and did meticulous research and even interviewed her before hiring her. She was well over our budget but felt like with photos, it is worth splurging.

We did our engagement photos back in November 2021 (Nov 30th) and got about 10-15 unedited back a little over a week later to use on our Save the Dates. I've emailed her a couple of times asking if we'd be getting more and she responds immediately telling me "YES!" and that she is hand editing all of the photos and I know she took a bunch! However, it is now the end of March and we still haven't received any edited photos and no additional to what we already have.

I do not want to ruin any friendships or burn any bridges and I definitely understand life gets in the way and the timing of our photoshoot was around the holidays. I've texted, emailed and messaged on Instagram just checking in and always get a response but no additional information on time and when we'd receive. I always just keep communication open and fun but I'm getting a little uneasy as our wedding is 4 months away and we would love to order some photos for the day (sign in books, invitations, etc.)

I think we would love some tips on how to follow up now that it's been so long. Thank you all in advance!

4 months seems like a long time to wait for engagement photos. I would reach out to her and say that you're so excited to see the rest of the photos, and would like to incorporate the edited photos into your wedding decor. Mention that you need to order the wedding decor soon, and were wondering when you can expect to receive the photos from your November photoshoot.

Did you sign a contract and pay for services? Reiterate to her what the service agreement was. I'm sorry but her friendship with you it's entirety business-related regardless how it may feel. Money is money. That is way too long to wait for photos. The fact that she gave you unedited photos is odd also. You're paying for full photography service and that should include professional editing.

Wow, by this time I'd be asking for the unedited raws to do some quick Photoworks edits myself. 4 months is a lot even when things are busy. Is she also your wedding photographer? Have you worked with her before, is it the first time? If not, I'd reconsider having her as a photographer, tbh. Anyways, you better ask her directly, keep it polite and somewhat friendly but firm. Money is money and asking someone you've paid when the work is ready isn't hurting any friendships or communication.
