Wait until later for honeymoon? Are “mini” moons a thing?

Alys, on February 28, 2020 at 8:13 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 15
We’re getting married in Sept and want at least 2-3 weeks for our honeymoon trip. But it’s not a good time for us to take time off from Sept to Nov, and Dec to about March we usually schedule about 3 ski trips during those months so we’ll already be using about 10 vacation days there. The soonest we can schedule a honeymoon would probably be April 2021 or the summer time in 2021.

What have other brides done when there’s a long gap between wedding and honeymoon? Just wait or take a little mini honeymoon right after even if it’s just a few days or a week max? I’m worried if we head straight back home after the wedding, it won’t feel momentous or special. But I also get that practically it just a very busy time for year for the both of us and we can’t take that much time off work.

We're getting married in October and wanted to go on a cruise, but October is hurricane season so we opted to not go then just in case! We booked our cruise for next February and are probably going to go on a mini moon as well because going back to work Monday just doesn't sound very romantic! It'll only be a few days, and it's only a few hours drive away because we didn't want to go too overboard! Do whatever you want!

I think it’s super important to take some time for you and your new spouse, even if it’s just a staycation for a day or two. Having that time to enjoy your first few days of married life and unwind from the stress of the wedding is so nice.

Yes a mini moon is a thing. Take a weekend getaway, doesnt have to be a big thing or very expensive and then plan ur honeymoon accordingly for 2021.

We are also getting married in September and plan on doing a mini moon right after the wedding and then a real honeymoon in January (escape NY winter lol). Our friend actually gifted our mini moon stay for us in Washington DC so it worked out perfect. The nerd in us is excited to go see all the museums

It's fine to do the actual honeymoon later on. But having a mini honeymoon is something that you can consider

Yes! This is what we will be doing. Our wedding is in August and thats hurricane season, so we will go on a mini moon until next year around April or May. Plus that gives us a chance to save more money for a better honeymoon.

We arent technically having a "honeymoon". Were getting married this may and at the end of may we are going to Tennessee for a week to begin our move to there. So we have a week planned for just me and fh to go and finalize plans for moving in June. 😂 I mean this is will be our first vacation without my son so well enjoy some alone time even if it's for doing grown up things like getting jobs haha.

We took a mini moon right after our wedding for 4 days. We wanted to get away and spend time together and relax. We are planning a big honeymoon for later this year.

My FH and I are taking a few days immediately filling the wedding to go on a fairly local mini moon, then a few months later we will go on our actual honeymoon

Thanks everyone! We’ll either book a small mini moon that’s easy to fly/to from or stay an extra couple days at the wedding venue after guests leave to enjoy some privacy. Honeymoon will be in spring or summer the following year when we’ll be able to take time off!

We’re doing a mini moon to Mexico for 6 days. Hopefully next year we’ll do something bigger for much longer. Money was a little tight, but we still wanted to get away for a bit.

We are also getting married in September but can't afford a honeymoon until April the next year. But we want to do a mini moon to universal studios in October with another couple that is getting married right after us!

We are doing a mini honeymoon right after our wedding it will probably be for 3 day at a nice hotel. But I'm sure if you don't do anything before the big honeymoon it will still feel like an amazing time in your life.

Most of my friends have not honeymooned right after - several have waited a year or more.

I think going on a special trip together to celebrate your wedding is momentous whether it happens immediately after or some time after your marriage.
