Vows

I think 4 minutes or so is typical. I don’t think wedding vows should ever be sad. I mean this is a happy occasion, right? I think they should be a good mix of romantic and funny. It’s totally fine, recommended even, to read them. Even if you do memorize them I would have a hard copy just in case.

I don't know how long my mine, it seemed pretty quick so probably around 2minutes. Written out it was a page and a half. I suggest starting off with your FHs name and telling him what you love about him and go from there. Everything will come to you. I did have to look at some sample vows just to get an idea on how to even write one myself, but it helped alot. I wouldn't make them sad, unless you mean like happy sad lol but as far as funny and all that goes, just speak from the heart. If there is an instant between you two that is funny and you want to include it, then do it! Just speak from your heart and start sooner rather than later so you have plenty of time for editing and revising without worrying about time.

About 3-4 minutes is pretty typical. I would not recommend trying to memorize them! You will be overcome with emotion and may not be able to remember them in the moment. Most vows are a combination of funny and emotional. My FW won't share our vows until the moment but discussed that we want laughter through the tears. We have unique things we want to promise to each other as well as our version of the typical vows you might expect. In my opinion the most important part of writing your own vows is to make them honest and heartfelt. Good luck.
