Vows

Hi!
Logistically speaking… if you have or are writing your own vows..how are you bringing them to the ceremony? Are you writing them in a vow book? Or typing it in your notes and using your cell phone? Are you typing and printing them out and carrying them to the altar? I think the vow books are so cute! But then I’m thinking well who will carry the books? Who will hold them during the ceremony and after we exchange vows? Just curious to see what others are doing.

I just typed and printed mine on plain paper, and my MOH kept them until the ceremony since her outfit had pockets.

We're not doing it, but when we discussed it, the plan would have been to give the vow books to our officiant and he would have handed them to each of us respectively

We just spoke from the heart. Although my fiancé had a paper that he referenced we really just spoke authentically about who we are our story with a few jokes laced in

I received two vow books so I wrote mine in one of them FH probably wont writ any and just speak off the top of his head when the ceremony rolls around.

But my dress has pockets so I can keep my book in my pocket! If that's not an option I would give to your officiant to just hand you at the alter

We both have vow books and when they are done they are being added to the envelope that’s holding the paper for the wedding detail shots. Then I feel like I will bring them. That way I know he doesn’t forget his lol

We wrote our own vows and our officiant very kindly helped us by reviewing what we had written to make sure they matched somewhat. He didn't want one person to say 2 sentences and the other person to say 2 pages. 🤣

He took all of the readings and pasted them into a book (he used a copy of The Princess Bride) that he read from and then passed around so we could read our vows. My MoH read a poem durring the ceremony that he put in there as well. It worked out perfectly for us. It looked clean durring the ceremony, no loose papers to get lost, and now we have a book with the full text of our ceremony as a keepsake. 🥰Vows 1

I love this!! I admire that! When you can just speak without much guidance! I know I’d get super nervous and trip over my words lol

I like the idea of including vow books in the details shot! Makes me lean more toward doing vow books

I guess we had advantage because we both do public speaking for a living. But honestly I just wanted a natural moment between us. But I think anything of a couple chooses to do is fine as long as it’s from the heart.

We wrote our own vows and our officiant had them in his binder that he used during the ceremony. We each held the binder when we read our vows, it worked out nicely. Smiley smile

At my last wedding, I printed them on a sheet and tucked that into a beautifully ornate vintage book that was placed amongst all the other decor afterward.

Hi Zanetha we spoken to our officiant today and she asked if we were or not. I told her that I want write my vows my and my bestfriend was with me. That we both will be very nerves and emotional which is true lol lol. So they both said they will be repeating after her Lol lol. My FH is semi-shy but once he opens up he's alot of fun. But if we write them down in the vows books and our maid of honors and his bestman will have his

We wrote ours in small his/hers books and our officiant kept them in her binder. She handed them to us at the appropriate time and then put them back in her binder after we were done. She made sure to track us down and hand us back our book which I have in a keepsake box

I am having the officiant have a book to document and make it easy for him to have anything. I’m trying to convince my fiancé to write our own vows but I doubt that will happen (he’s worried that he’ll stumble all over them). If we do get to do them then we will be doing the books and I will hand them to the officiant (his uncle). That way the officiant can be dramatic, put down his book and then pull out our books when he gets to the part saying: “In lou of traditional vows the bride and groom have decided to write their own.”

We are exchanging our personal vows privately during our first look, and then reciting our officiant’s vows at the ceremony. We are using vow books we purchased from Etsy, but we won’t have to worry about how to carry/where to store.
