Vows

No one will think less of your vows if you have a piece of paper. It won’t be less special. Sometimes when you’re nervous or emotional it’s hard to remember what you want to say.

I agree with Peggy. I think if you didn't decide on having a notecard or something with you, you'd be really overwhelmed with emotion or nerves that you could draw a blank in the moment.

Reading them will be just as heartfelt, and maybe a little more cohesive that trying to remember everything you wanted to say while also dealing with nerves. If you don't want just a piece of paper, put them in a small book like a journal. You can then keep the book so you always have a copy of the vows you shared. They make his vows and her vows books too.

We each write our own vows and were so worried we would forget everything when we got up there and there were very heartfelt things we wanted to say, so we wrote them on a small paper and gave it to our officiant to hand to us when it was time.

We read them off of paper, and nobody seemed to mind. I knew there was no way I could memorize/wing my vows, so I had to be prepared. Even if you feel like you are rehearsing, it will feel completely different standing up in front of everyone reading them to your spouse.
