Vow Renewal 😍

Delaney, on June 24, 2019 at 8:22 PM Posted in Planning 2 13
The husband and I got married June of 2016 at the courthouse and are wanting to do vow renewals for our five year anniversary in Spring of 2021. We want to go all out since we didn't for the original wedding.
If you have any advice, tips, inspo, what I should budget, or anything please let me know! We'll probably have around 50 guests!

This is awesome! Love vow renewal.
I say main thing is a photographer and beautiful venue of course. Get a budget and find a theme or general vision to stick to it. Everything should be budget and like I mention photo and venue are a huge but this are mostly for you. For your guest what matters the most is how you make them feel and what they get to take home and they remember. This is mostly entertainment, food and those little details you do just to make your guest feel comfortable and welcome.

    Thank you so much!
My parents divorced and both remarried so I was able to attend both of their weddings, they were simple (yet totally opposite), but both so fun!
We want definitely want it to feel warm and welcoming, and nothing too crazy off the wall/overwhelming!
Trying to convince the husband into a 'boho' theme 😅. So far he's liking it♥️.
I'm getting excited. Kinda bummed we didn't do this to begin with, because the conversations and planning are so fun, but I'm grateful to have this opportunity in the near future.

First time posting. Hubby and I are renewing our vows in September. We got married in September 2004 in the courthouse and after college, he joined the Army so we never had a wedding ceremony with the deployments, moves etc. This was actually his idea and we started planning May 30th lol. I’d say find and secure your venue first. Then of course your photographer, catering, dj, cake baker etc. We hired a wedding planner and she’s been amazing so far. We have all of our vendors except for the officiant which isn’t really a necessity as we’re already married. We could ask a friend to do the ceremony but we’ll see. We are not having a wedding party. It’ll be just us 2 and our 2 children up there. As far as budget, it really depends on what you want.

I'm actually Active Duty Navy so we get it! 😅. I'm REALLY hoping these dates work out with the military and everything. But it seems like it will as we'll be in the shipyards. fingers crossed😂.
I've found a venue for a really good price. Going to be messaging them this week. Once I'm back from deployment we'll be about a year out from the vow renewal😳
    Thank you so much!

I definitely recommend using sales to get all your inventory and coupons! I used so many coupons. I also recommend not being afraid to ask people to borrow stuff so that you don't have to buy it yourself.

Good idea! I'll look on Groupon too for the customized wedding decor and bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts, etc!

Ah something else i forgot to say - focus on food and entertainment. Honestly guests won't care as much as you think about decor and things like that. It's just what we think feels nice but if you're tight on budget there are definitely areas to focus on

That's awesome! We are doing the same. We eloped 6 years ago and are planning a vow renewal for our 7th anniversary.

Most importantly have fun with it! With all of the wedding jitters behind you, now you can focus on the best part, the party!

I’m so glad I found this discussion. My fiancé and I started planning a wedding for Spring 2021 but realized that 1) they’re so expensive and 2) location matters when you live away from family but want to include your current friends and coworkers. We’ve recently decided to plan a small courthouse wedding with friends and coworkers followed by a small bbq or dinner outing for 10 people total. Then the following year (or possibly several months later) have a vow renewal with family in our home state with 40-50 people.

I have yet to contact venues for vow renewals, but the quotes I received for weddings are ridiculous. I don’t know if it’ll be cheaper but I can only hope.

Hi! Navy veteran here, hubs is still active. We are planning a vow renewal as we were in the same boat. Can’t offer much help but if you have any advice I’d love to hear it!
