Vow Renewal

Emily, on February 18, 2025 at 12:06 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3
So me and my current husband had gotten married in late December of this last year due to some issues that had come up. My health had declined severely over the past year and I have been on leave twice. We decided it would be best to wait on our dream wedding and have a small one at the time because despite everything I had paid, i couldnt afford it anymore and there was still so much left . It was a nice occasion with immediate family only at our house. We thought we would renew our vows in a few years when we had the money to be able to have it the way we want it and have the very best honeymoon and spare no expense. Has anyone else had to let go of their dream ideas for something different?

Well, if you do a WW search, lots of people hate their weddings so certainly unlike what they had imagined for themselves. Try to keep perspective that it's your partner's love and your ability to love them in return that is Real, and not a fairytale narrative written by someone else. Your partner is there for you through sickness and health. Sounds like you're already living the dream marriage. When you do have the capacity for a vow renewal, I hope you two celebrate in the happiest way possible.

Hi Emily! Yes, definitely. My husband and I eloped at a courthouse at 18. Since then he joined the military, we moved across the country, had two baby boys, and now been married for 6 years! We are finally having our vow renewal, a wedding to celebrate with all of our friends and family. The beauty of a vow renewal is there is freedom in doing only what really matters for you and your day!

We are having a small celebration with just 70 people. We will not have a bridal party, and instead of having a dinner rehearsal we are having an out of town guest dinner the night before to see everyone who is flying in. My favorite thing is we're celebrating our marriage so far, not the beginning of our marriage. We get to personalize our vows this time and I finally get my beautiful white dress!

I had to wait 6 years so we could financially splurge on this. My original planning budget was $10k...we are now spending about $20k. The prices of everything has gone up.

Consider the important things and what would bring you both the most JOY in celebrating you as a couple. It doesn't have to look like anything traditional.

Sincerely praying for you and your health, and whatever celebration of marriage you may have, even if it's just an anniversary party!
