Vow Renewal

Mary, on March 17, 2020 at 3:36 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
My husband and I are planning a vow renewal to celebrate 20 years in 2022. It won't be 20 years of marriage but 20 years since finding our way back to each other. When we married in 2004 it was by a JP who forgot she was marrying us. She answered her door in her house coat and that is what she wore to marry is. To say we deserve a do over is an understatement.

I have read so much on vow renewal etiquette and have had so many conflicting views. I look at it this way, we never had the wedding we wanted so this is our chance to do so, bridal party and all. We will skip bachelor/bachelorette parties and the bridal shower. We won't register either because we are already an established household.
My take on the vow renewal is to do what you want as long as it makes you happy. After all it is about celebrating your union.

Literally everything that you mentioned is abiding by typical vow renewal etiquette.

Your vow renewal can be just as much like a "traditional wedding" as you want! White dress, cake cutting, bridal party, etc. Skipping pre-wedding events like you mentioned goes right along with vow renewal etiquette. There's nothing wrong with anything you mentioned Smiley smile
