Vow Renewal

VeeB, on September 25, 2019 at 9:25 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10

My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in January 2021 and would like to do a destination vow renewal. We were very young (20 & 21) when we got married and some people were opposed to it because of our age - they came to our wedding and let some people know how they felt and one or two also said we wouldn't make it. This is something we wanted to do celebrate that we did something right with a few people, including our adult children. I'm hoping to get some advice on a few things...

1. I HATED my dress (long story) and didn't have that "I feel like a bride" feeling - is it okay to wear an actual wedding dress?

2. Do we have to "invite" everyone who was at the wedding the first time around (if we're still friends or in contact with them) including my husband's family who he doesn't really get along with?

Any advice would be great...

Thanks! :-)

    1. You can wear whatever you want so if that’s a wedding dress, go for it!
    2. You can invite as many or as few people as you want and none of them have to be from your original guest list.

Wear any dress that makes you feel beautiful and happy to wear it. That should be the rule always!

Invite or don't invite anyone you both agree on. The day should be about celebrating the two of you with people that love and support you.

Enjoy and congratulations on making it!

I dont think you have to invite everyone from the first wedding. And I'd definitely wear a wedding gown so you can get the bride feeling Smiley smile

You deserve to wear the wedding dress of your dreams! Treat yourself. And only feel obligated to invite the people you really want to!

Congrats! 25 years is a huge accomplishment. I'd say wear what you want and invite who you want, it's your day.

Same as pp do everything you want to do! Only thing of note we’re planning a DW vow renewal so be prepared that you may not have as many guest attending as you would like. Other than that go for it!
