Vow renewal traditions?

Hi. Renewing our vows, ten years. We didnt have anything fancy the first time around: got married in my mom's living room, the wedding dress was borrowed. Blah blah blah. Anyway now we're doing it big and my bridesmaids are suggesting i stick with tradition with the whole something borrowed, something blue, something old, something new.... do i have to?? I don't really have anything to borrow- my mom and grandma got married in courthouses, so nothing too traditional to pass along there. And i refuse to paint my toes blue. What do you think??

It’s your wedding. Do what you want. I’m sure your bridesmaids are just being super enthusiastic, but at the end of the day do what you are comfortable with.

You could borrow a favored jewelry item from someone. Blue sapphires and aquamarine are gorgeous and will count double lol, your dress is new and you can wear your most comfortable shoes would be your old...

Or skip it because it's your day! So what you want.

My blue is in my garter so no one really will see it lol. Like a pp said you can borrow a piece of jewelry as well. I'm borrowing my great grandmother's double strand pearl necklace so I've got my old and borrowed covered there.

You should do whatever you want, you both made it 10 years!!! That's huge!
To pay tribute to your anniversary, customs, and each other, perhaps this:
The Decor: something from your Mom's living room (borrowed)
Flowers: have some that are blue
Music: play a song that was important when you got married the 1st time (old)
Vows: NEW!!
Congrats to you both- I wish you another great 10 years.
