Vow Renewal Ceremony

KimandLarry, on July 10, 2019 at 11:50 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 10

So I have been reading a lot about vow renewals(we're renewing our vows on our 10th anniversary). There is a lot of conflicting advice out there about what kind of ceremony to have. Our original ceremony was small, we were too broke for anything fancy. Now, 9 years later, we are in a much better place financially and able to do the wedding we originally wanted. My question is, is it tacky to have the complete "wedding" ceremony? With bridesmaids and everything? Some sites say not to, while others say do whatever you want to do. Any help is appreciated.

I see nothing wrong with having a "complete" wedding vow renewal!

Nope, not tacky! Throw your dream vow renewal, if you wish. Wear white or any color. I think the only thing that doesn’t apply is a pre-wedding party (bridal shower) because you’re already married.

How exciting to have your dream vow renewal wedding on your 10th anniversary! Very special. 🌹

I think it’s really up to you two what you want to do. You can’t please everybody, and if someone is upset by you deciding to celebrate 10 years of marriage and renew your vows with the full traditional ceremony including a wedding party it’s not about you it’s about them.
    Congrats on 9 years!

Have it all. Renewal ceremonies are common on big anniversaries. 10, 25, 50th. My parents had theirs on there 25th. It's a big milestone to make it 10 years! Celebrate it.

Hey Kim! Welcome to the WeddingWire community! It’s great to have you join us here!

    Also, congratulations on your anniversary!

If it is your dream to have a ‘complete’ wedding with a bridal party, then that’s exactly what you should have! There are no rules about what is the right and wrong way to hold a vow renewal so it’s entirely up to you and your spouse.

Have you thought about what style of vow renewal reception you would like?

Thanks ladies! Our renewal is going to be in a historic ballroom. The ceremony itself will be in the courtyard, then the "party" inside. I'm going for a casual, but not too casual look. My girls will be in short party dresses, and the guys will be in tuxes. I am going to be wearing the dress of my dreams(can't say too much cause hubby is on here as well). Our colors are deep purple, silver, and white. I know it's still a year away, but I am so excited to get deep into planning!

I don't see anything wrong with having the complete wedding Smiley smile I've been to give renewals where it was pretty much a complete wedding and it was beautiful regardless of what was done and how

My husband and I will be renewing our vows next year and I’m having a ceremony. Do what you want and what makes you happy love. We married at justice of peace with few family and friends and dinner following. We are in better place and I want to celebrate life and love with family and friends.

Do what makes you happy!! This is your moment to dream what ever you'd like it to be Smiley smile We are planning our celebration of marriage and vow renewal (7 years later!) too. We eloped in a park with a friend who ordained and another friend as a witness. We couldn't afford a celebration then and can finally do one now. So much fun and little stress when planning a vow renewal, I love it!
