Vow book?

JerseyGirl, on January 22, 2017 at 11:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 7

My FH and I want to write our own vows. All of the weddings I have been to have had traditional vow that neither the bride or groom wrote. Except for one and the bride pulled a wrinkly piece of paper from her dress when it was time to read her vows. I do not want to pull paper from my boobs during the ceremony!

Has anyone used a vow book before? Do you carry it down the aisle with you or does your officiant hold it? (I'm not having a bridal party so no MOH) I know Etsy has a bunch just trying to figure out if they are worth it. What's your thoughts?

Are you having a flower girl or could your mom or dad hold it in the front row for you. I am doing a vow book but have a maid of honor who will hold it or I have 2 ring bearers and we were thinking of having them each hold those instead of the rings

Forgot about mom being in the front row. That would work. I like the idea of the ring bearers holding it!

I was thinking about having our officiant hold it and then hand it to me when it was that time in the ceremony.

I plan to. My MOH or officiant will hold mine until I'm ready

We are writing our own vows, so exciting! Our officiant offered to hold them for us. Best wishes!

Our officiant will have us send in advance of the ceremony to ensure they are similar length, and of similar tone. He will then feed us the lines to repeat like traditional vows. Just an idea.

We're not sure what we're doing yet for vows, but our friends who recently got married did what rdlb did and had their officiant say the lines first and them repeat them. It helped them a ton with public speaking nerves too.
