I have to vent! Why is it that certain people think nothing is good enough unless they do it?! I am allowing friends and family help with certain aspects, but they’re out of control!! They want to do everything themselves, and they act like they’re better than professionals. I literally had someone tell me that so and so would do my photos for free because they just bought a camera, and that they’re just as good as who I hired (even though they don’t know who I hired). I’m sorry they’re better than a professional! 🙄 I keep having to turn people down and they act annoyed- they also act like I’m just throwing away MY money. It’s so frustrating.

I have had that same experience! My FH and I are paying for the wedding and everyone I talk to starts talking about “well I’m just trying to save you some money”. For example, the photographer and the dessert. We hired a photographer (because pictures are SO important to us). We want to do donuts instead of cake and every time I bring it up someone mentions “well wouldn’t it be cheaper to do cake” or “can’t your aunt do the pictures”. Let us do the planning - we will save money where we fee we can.

It’s so frustrating!!! I also had an issue with cupcakes. I was told they’d be nasty if I didn’t let so and so do them... who is not a baker lol Whatever 🙄 We are also paying for it ourselves... I appreciate the help but no thanks.

Oh boy! I’ve had the opposite. My SIL is an awesome photographer. I hired her to do my wedding photos. Others are having a fit because she’s not “professional” enough. This is the second wedding for each of us and it’s extremely casual. No pressure for formal portraits. I wish no matter what their opinion some folks would butt out.

Absolutely! I’ve been using the checklist on here, and I’m on track... but I keep looking ahead and start to panic. 😂😂 I have to slow down sometimes and remember that I have plenty of time.

That would irk my nerves too. If they keep bothering you, I'd just say it's already been decided on and is taken care of!

We had a very short, 5 month engagement. And every week of that time at least once, I blessed my Mom, for never interfering, and my MIL for not only never interfering, but putting in their place her various daughters and DIL whose ideas on weddings were completely different from ours, and who knew everything about everything ---or so they seemed to think. In the few times we went to NYC and were with them for big family dinners, some one of the women would start up. And after one sentence, MIL would Interrupt. "Excuse me. But is this your wedding? No it is not. This is J and T's wedding. So be quiet, please. They are not asking your opinion. " The woman is a gem. If I could clone her and loan her out, I would.

Haha I need her to follow me around for the next 11 months 😂 I’ve heard that some people do shorter engagements to avoid the drama, and I can’t believe I have so long to go with it 😞

My mother in law did that aha. She felt like we should have gotten married at a venue she could have gotten for us for free but didn't think about the fact that we got married where we met which was sentimental to us.

That is the exact reason we have kept most details to ourselves. I didn't want to hear how other people would do things, or how their weddings were. If I had a specific question, I asked a couple people I trust the most.

Exactly!! And there’s so much I have planned still that no one even knows about.
