Vitalium rings?

Mrs_MLF, on March 28, 2016 at 2:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Has anyone gone with vitalium for the grooms wedding band? My jeweler recommended it over tungsten because I guess it isn't as brittle, but still shatters under direct pressure. Because of his job, DF needs a ring that will shatter under pressure instead of squishing. Do we stick with white tungsten or go with vitalium?

I haven't even come across vitalium rings. I'm going to scurry off to check them out real quick.

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on one of those, the ones I'm looking at seem to be pretty inexpensive.

I've never heard of it but I did a quick browse on youtube and it seems like the best option if you need a safety ring (I can see a lot of people needing that in certain jobs). Based on this chart the only real different is weight and scratch resistance, and they're both high anyway.

I say go for it, plus men's rings are usually not tooooo expensive and you could replace his later on if he needed.

Or, get what he likes but get him a silicone ring for work (I'm assuming it's work for which he needs a safety ring).

They are pretty inexpensive. The silicone is an option for while he's at work, but just seems obnoxious to put on & take off every day. His job requires a lot of rock climbing (yes, I know that sounds nuts) so high scratch resistance is a must. Along with the climbing comes the risk of falling rocks & boulders hence the need for a safety ring.

I was just hoping someone could give me an idea on actual wearability.

I love this idea, my FH is a welder so we have talked about many different options for him, I'll have to check this out!
