Vistaprint vs. others?

Laura, on June 13, 2016 at 5:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 30

Hi All,

We are trying to pick our invitations (FH is VERY picky). I am noticing that vistaprint is wayyyyyyy cheaper than any other site I've been on. Does their quality stand up against the others? (i.e. minted, wedding paper divas, etc)

thanks!

Hi Laura. Can't speak for invitations or other sites, but I ordered my STDs from Vistaprint and I was very pleased with them!

I also used vistaprint and am happy with my invites. Many will recommend upgrading to a nicer paper. It still ends up being a lot cheaper than others, but makes it a little nicer. Also, if you can, make sure you wait until they have a good sale (like 40-50% off!)

I'm extremely happy with our invites from Vista Print. We up graded to the Premium White Matte Stock and bought matching envelopes. I do not think they look cheap at all, I was very very shocked at how nice they looked when I bought them. The color is great and it being full color both sides adds to the look. I am making our own bands out of card stock and Envelope Seals (i bought off of vista print too).

The designs are simpler (no laser cut or flaps/ribbons). I have not order form the other places but I know that they have those extras.

I ordered my save the dates from vista print-- my FH designed them, they were pretty basic, just a photo of us with some "save the date" text on it and they turned out awful. We got refunded for them. But, I ordered our RSVP cards from them later and it turned out fine. I think if you use their templates you should be just fine. Based on my experience, I wouldn't use them if you're using your own design, or using a photo. We went through Paper Source for our actual invites and I was beyond happy with them!

We did STDs through Vistaprint and honestly I wasn't impressed with the quality. The paper was fine but the actual printing wasn't as clear as I would have liked. We did print our invitations and thank you cards through Catprint.com and were thrilled with those.

Vistaprint is definitely on its A game. Do it through them. Also, they do have a 25-50% sale going on right now.

Hi Laura. Before purchasing, I would also take a look at

www.tinyprints.com. I've used VP a lot in the past and have noticed inconsistencies in printing lately. While their customer services has ALWAYS been great and they have reprinted without concern, the fact that now it's 50/50 with reprints is bothersome to me. If you do go with Tiny Prints and want to add a little bit of romance to the piece, get the pearl paper stock. It's very romantic to me.

You can order a free sample if you have time! I ordered free samples from soooo many places so Ic could touch and feel the quality of the different types of paper they have.

We ordered from vistaprint and were really happy!

I will say that if you're going for an upscale look, vistaprint invites can look a little... unfinished? If you are a DIYer, they are an amazing starting point. I rounded the corners on mine, stacked the suite up, and tied it together using green raffia. They ended up looking great! I saw another WW user who edged hers in glitter.

Long story short, vistaprint is a great starting point, and makes beautiful basic invitations, that can be glammed-up as needed. If you are looking to be absolutely wowed by something the second that you pull it out of the box, they might not be your best bet.

We purchased a temple for both our STDs and invites from Etsy and then had them printed through Catprint.com. They will send you free paper swatches and they do a free hard copy proof print before they start printing your order.

I used wedding paper divas and was so impressed with the quality. They always have awesome coupons- we got 30% off ours. There's a groupon right now, too.

FH made our own design through Vistaprint for programs. I was really disappointed. The cut was awful at least 1/4 inch off which made all the words off center and had part of someone else's design down the side. My background was navy and it had pink stripes (looked like the background for a baby shower) down the side. They were good about doing a refund, but I don't see us using them again because of it.

I loved my invites from VistaPrint. Because they were cheap I was able to splurge on the personalized envelopes that had our return address on the back. Honestly, I wouldn't have done it any other way. They generally get tossed afterward anyway. They're quality enough that I am putting one in my shadow box but not so expensive that I felt guilty. Also, DH kept reminding me of how much booze we could (for the wedding) get with money we saved. I know places do a free invite. My friend got one free sample for her "keeper" and ordered the rest of hers off Vistaprint.

I used vistaprint for my invitations. I love the way they turned out! I also waited till they had a massive 50% off sale so I got my invites VERY cheap compared to other places.

Vistaprint has a 100% guarantee (including shipping cost). I have seen invites from them that came out great! I used them & uploaded a design & it looked horrendous. I was super disappointed in it & got a refund. Like pp said, if you are designing your own then I wouldn't use them. If you are using their template I think they look great.

I have used them before and been unhappy with the quality. Another option is to buy a design on Etsy and then print with a printer of your choice. Check out Cards & Pockets. I use them often for printing. Or check with a local printer. They are usually pretty fair priced!

I'm doing wedding paper divas BUTonly because of the coupons. I got 40% off my save the dates. Quality is the same but you'll find a wider variety of options, colors, etc on some of the more expensive sites.
