My first lost their flights and hotels bc wedding had to be canceled and I don’t know when things will be opening back up to even get married I’m so mad and disappointed that I waisted so much on something I got my hopes up not to happen😡

So none of your vendors will refund you but what about postponing. The venue should give you options for later in the year or next year to apply your deposit toward. Double check with them.

If they don’t give a refund or let you reschedule get what you paid for. Deliver that cake to me as I ordered -virus or no virus. If it’s the venue, they should let you reschedule.

Really in this pandemic that's shocking. I understand the deposits are non-refundable but this is a world crisis they should give you an opportunity to postpone. I work for the airline we cancelled but no one lost their money it's in a travel bank for future travel. at least my company. Technically we cancelled the flights. Look into contracts and see if you can postpone until another date for reception and you and FH can always have small ceremony of 10 in May even if a friend/sibling has to get ordained online.

You should definitely be given the option to reschedule everything for another date because these are unprecedented times. No way they can tell you that you'll lose everything, that's bad business. I'd ask them for an alternative date, however you may have to take a week day date (like a friend of mine) due to availability / lack thereof. But you should definitely look to get everything pushed back instead of losing all that money. As for flights and hotels, depending on where, the flights might have to be cancelled and hotels closed so a refund might be in question, just ask around and check with the companies.

    Hi there,

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I definitely understand how disappointing this is.

Across the board we've heard that wedding vendors have been really flexible and accommodating with rescheduling your wedding plans, but most vendors do not have the financial ability to completely refund all deposits for cancellations.

It stinks for everyone right now, but it's also why reviewing your contract terms are so important! Contracts protect you, the client, from being taken advantage of, but they also protect businesses against unpredictable crises like this one. Before you take any other steps I'd review your contract terms.

Sending so much love your way!

    Smiley heart

You need to read all of your contracts again. Most venues have clauses re “acts of God” or “ government or state regulations” or something to that effect. I argued the wording of this phrasing in my contract with my venue for 2 weeks before they agreed to refund all of our money AND our guests’ reservations without penalty. I’d also threaten to get an attorney as it is currently illegal in most states to hold gathering of more than 10 people or states are under Stay at Home orders. At the very least, the venue and your vendors should be offering you new dates to reschedule if they won’t refund your money. Also airlines are now refunding flight costs or at the very least issuing credits that are generally good for at least a year. Don’t lose hope!
