Virginia Spring 2021 Brides

Jess, on February 24, 2021 at 3:56 PM Posted in Virginia Planning 1 22

Our governor just loosened the previous 10 person gathering limit to 25, which is good news because we're moving in the right direction and our numbers are going down, but I'm still nervous about our wedding in May. We cut our guest list down to 100 people, which would fit our venue if the capacity is 50% by then. It's all just so nerve wracking and I hate not knowing what to do. Any other VA brides getting married in spring/early summer?

I'm in Nova and getting married in June! Baby steps, but I'm so happy to be able to have a "normal" bridal shower now. My sister called the venue we had in mind immediately after the announcement haha. I can't predict the future, but if we continue on this trend, I'm fairly confident we can get back to phase 3 (50% capacity) by May.

I'm in Nova too! But yeah same! We have my shower planned for the 27th of March and with this announcement, at least we're in the clear for that! Glad to hear your optimism though. My husband (we got eloped on our original date) is super confident and I'm just in my head about it constantly.

When is your date in May? I think it will be okay!! Northern va bride here and we actually postponed our wedding from May 1 to July 30, so three months back. Our venue is a barn on a farm, so we have flexibility if we have to switch to a tent/put people outside etc. but I really want to be able to fit all of my guests inside the barn. With the J&J vaccine coming out next week, case numbers should continue to go down as vaccination goes up!

It's May 15th! Wait what's your venue? Ours is barn too - Winding Creek Farm. They told us we could also set up everything outside, but we booked them because of how pretty the barn is so I really want to use it!

Our venue is still being built! It’s at Whitehall Farm in Clifton, VA. The barn is mostly complete at this point but we will be one of their first weddings if not the first. I’m thinking at least 50 will be allowed indoors, and then the rest of the guests could be seated along the wrap around porch of our barn (expecting 100 guests or less) OR possibly utilizing a tent that would connect into the barn somehow if I can’t fit everyone inside or on the porch. If northam keeps indoor guests counts super low, then we will just have to be flexible using outdoor space. Either way, having enough farm land definitely has its advantages!

May 1st wedding here... in Richmond. Likely going to postpone unfortunately. I could see restrictions not loosening until summer or fall.

We're getting married on May 15th in Stafford--and I'm very nervous. Has anyone seen, or have venues received, any indication of how the indoor gathering restrictions will ease (if at all) in the coming months? I know there is a petition among wedding vendors to ease the restrictions, but I haven't seen any reporting on the Governor's intentions after March.

I am getting married April 24th. We plan on having it regardless it's just too stressful to try and reschedule everything all over again. We technically got married last March in civil ceremony since we already had the certificate for our original April 4th date.

The Governor announces limits for the following month close to the end of each prior month (like yesterday for March). I was able to get my vendors to agree to extend the 30-day guest count notice to April 1st instead that way I can wait for the March announcement to see if the limits will ease/increase for April.

Ours is May 15th as well. Our vendors don’t know anything more than what we do, unfortunately. It’s just a game of wait and see.

Yeah we’re in the same boat. Got legally married last year, but don’t want to postpone again. It’s too stress l to keep going on like this + don’t want to risk losing more money if a vendor is unavailable to reschedule. I guess we will just wait and see what he decides for May at the end of April. I’m hoping he will decide to let weddings operate as entertainment venues operate.

I’m getting married at Winding Creek Farm on May 8th and I am struggling with what to do! Our guest count is at 96 (will probably be 100) and I really don’t want to push the wedding. I just don’t know what to do and our vendors need an answer (they are currently holding a June date for us just in case). Keeping my fingers crossed we can have everything as planned

We will have ours no matter what, unless it's still 25 people but I doubt it will be by then! They offered to hold a June date for us as well, but I just didn't really see the point in only pushing it back a month. It didn't seem like they wanted us to move it too far out. We already postponed from September. This is just hearsay, but my friend who is getting married June 5th at a nearby venue said her coordinator told them that Maryland will be announcing soon that they will increase weddings at the end of the month to 50% capacity and Virginia will likely do the same. Idk how true all that is, but hoping for the best!

Maryland lifted its old restrictions last week! They are now at 50% capacity for indoor and outdoor gatherings. Virginia is still going to be at the 10/25 rule until April 1. Sometime the week before April 1, Governor Northam will announce how he plans to update the gathering restrictions. I follow all of this stuff super closely and always watch the weekly press conferences.

Thanks for letting me know! Hoping Northam does the same. I know he's under a lot of scrutiny from people in the wedding industry right now.

I did hear him say that he can lift/adjust restrictions for April 1 as long as we keep trending down. So I think you guys will be fine! It sucks waiting though!!!

Update for Virginia spring brides - the governor has updated gathering limits for the month of April. Starting April 1st, indoor gatherings are capped at 50 and outdoor gatherings are capped at 100!
