Are there any VA brides and what are your plans?

Ours is set for the 24th outside of Charlottesville. But we're also nervous and looking to reschedule. Talking to our venue tomorrow. I was really hopefully for the the vaccine, but the new strain has me worried and friends are starting to make me feel like a villain for wanting to keep planning, even though our wedding is mostly outdoors.

I'm just as nervous as you. We are in May - and actually, it is a postponement from May of last year because of the numbers. I don't want to postpone yet again but can't get my deposits back. It is getting quite crazy at this point. I also am worried because both sets of parents live out of state and travel for anyone scares me.

    Hi Taren,

I am scheduled to get married on April 25th in Virginia in an outdoor ceremony. For context, we were supposed to get married on April 26th, 2020, and we delayed an entire year because of covid. Now, we are planning to get married on April 25th no matter what because we don't want to wait another year. Also, delaying brings its own set of stresses because you are constantly worried, about whether it will improve in time for your wedding. For this April, we have created three different wedding guests lists depending on the restrictions. We have lists for 10 guests, 50 guests, and 150 guests. We are sending out invitations in March, to give more time for vaccine distribution to take place and to get a better sense of how the world is looking in the spring.

I too have a wedding scheduled in April, the day after yours on the 24th. The restrictions are 10 ppl or less at this particular time. I am still moving forward. I just mailed out my invitations in which the RSVP are due no later than March 1st. I feel as though things may be under control much better than they are now since the holidays are over & the gatherings are typically honored otherwise.

My date is May 29. We're just trying to plan as if the restrictions will be lifted. I'm pretty hopeful that we'll be able to do what we're planning, but it's all a waiting game. I'm sure that vendors have contingencies in place in case restrictions are put in place again. If anything changes and we can't have what we anticipate, we'll cut back and possibly elope.

I really like that idea of having different guest lists and sending invites early. I'm definitely going to steal that.

If the restriction is still 10 people I’ll probably just postpone! I’m hoping and praying for at least 50. But if not we’ll make decision by February!

My wedding is April 10th. We are still planning on getting married on that date, as far as the number of guests....we are waiting to see what the Governor says at the end of this month before making a decision on how many guests we will have. Praying that we’ll be able to keep our amount 😭😭😭

We were supposed to get married on April 5. We were behind on saving and planning anyways. Also, my fiancé’s family has COVID and would not feel comfortable attending the wedding. So we decided to get married in the spring of 2022. Our venue was great and told us they would move our date without a fee.

Our wedding is April 2 in Williamsburg, and we've just decided to prepare for 50 ppl. We were originally between 100 and 125, but the way things are looking, we're sure that won't be an option. We've been holding off on save the dates and invitations, but I would like something to send all of the ppl that we originally wanted to invite basically saying we haven't forgotten about anyone.. but it's covid🤷🏾‍♀️

    Hello all,
My original wedding date was September 12, 2020. My venue is small and we had roughly 120 guests. Due to Covid we postponed until May 15, 2021. Since the restrictions have dropped to 10, we are trying to come up with some contingency plans. His family is larger than mine, he has 5 brothers and more neices and nephews than I can count. He also has 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren. I have two children, two siblings and two granddaughters. We are both in our 50s and this is a second marriage for both of us. This means that are guests are older, so we are even more concerned with the virus and restrictions. We have both decided that we will make a decision in February. Our venue has an outside area so if the restrictions are lifted we can still accommodate social distancing. The stress of not knowing what you can plan for is killing me. I do know that if I have to cancel, I will get my money back for everything except my dress and cake.
