Violinist during dinner?

Bride2Be, on April 24, 2021 at 5:43 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 10
We will be having a violinist play while people arrive, during the ceremony, and during cocktail hour. We will be having a country band kick off the night after dinner , so I’m not sure what to do during dinner? I know I want our first dance and daddy/daughter dance to be the original songs I picked but what should we do during dinner? What has everyone else done?

Should we have the violinist play during dinner too? Have nothing? Or have the band play and just pick up with more upbeat songs after?

OMG! That would be so romantic having the violinist play during dinner! They could play anything from Phantom of the opera, to Italian operas, or even modern day love songs like Ed Sheeran! Ughh why didn’t I think of this!!!!! I think this is a phenomenal idea.

We are having a violinist and guitarist for the ceremony, then the guitarist for cocktail hour and then I’m planning on playing some light music in the background during dinner, but if I could have afforded it, I totally Would have had them stay through dinner!! It will be so beautiful for you- live music is always the best!

I would definitely have the violinist play during dinner. It would also be more cost effective because you're paying one person vs 3-5 for the band for that time.

Oh that’ll sound amazing to have a guitarist too! You don’t think it’s TOO much violin to have it through all that? I mean this guy is amazing so I personally will love it but I don’t want other people to think it’s overkill

That’s what I was thinking too. But you don’t think it’s TOO much violin for all that time?

I don't think so! They could play a different genre or you could have a pianist come play with them during the dinner. I'm a musician so I wouldn't say no to more awesome violin playing.

Not at all! I think it will be perfect!! The violin as background to dinner will be just lovely, much like piano music played at fancy restaurants while you eat. I think everyone will be impressed with the ambiance! Have a fabulous day!! Smiley smile

We’re thinking of having a harpist play during the ceremony and the switching to a DJ for cocktail and the rest of the evening. We thought about having the harpist for dinner but wanted to transfer into a party atmosphere a little earlier
