Viennese Hour or No Viennese hour?

Jaclyn, on June 24, 2014 at 2:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi every! My FH and I just booked our venue (Westbury Manor on Long Island) and we are on the fence about doing the Viennese Hour. The other weddings that we have gone to have had it and I feel like so much of it goes to waste since everyone is so stuffed from the cocktail hour and then dinner. We will be having cake, cookies, after dinner drinks, things like that, but are just unsure about having that extra dessert hour. The price difference is about $3,400. What do you guys think?? Who else is having one?

I didn't do one, but our reception came with sampler viennese platters on all tables, so I didn't see the need to upgrade that any further. I guess it would come down to if you wanted to extend your reception. Look at your time line and see if you think you'll miss anything (like cocktail hour for pictures). Maybe this extra hour will allow you to have more time to talk to your guests.

I wanted one, but the price is the exact reason we decided against it. $3400 is crazy! Put it toward the honeymoon.

I am so glad that I asked everyone!! I think we are def going to skip it!! $3,400 is def a nice payment towards the honey moon!

Ashley, we were thinking about doing an extended hour with open bar, which isn't half as expensive, so we could spend more time with our guests.. or at least our friends that wanted to keep the party going! We don't have to let me know until about 2 months prior to the wedding when we have a head count and know how many people would actually stay that extra hour. I think that is more reasonable!

Never heard of this before...I don't mind only eating one meal at a wedding, though, if it is an extra food option (that's what it sounds like).

If you don't get that what desserts does The place give?I'm getting married on Long Island as well. They do a mini Viennese hour. Cakes cookies ice cream sundae. Just a small version of it and it's included. 3400 sounds like a lot of money.

I photographed a wedding there last year that didn't have a Viennese hour, they put plates of cookies on the tables and of course the cake. IMO you're spending a lot on a cake and you want it to get eaten! I would pass on the Viennese Smiley smile
