Videography

Latonya, on July 16, 2019 at 12:46 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
Ok so I plan on only having the ceremony filmed. I have live musicians performing and I definitely want video of my bridal March because I am going to look the best I've looked in my life! I am gathering quotes but what should I be asking vendors? How long is the average wedding video?? I am also trying to save money because I don't believe you have to break the bank for 1 day. It can be gorgeous on a budget!!!

    The main questions are:

How many hours does this include?
    How many videographers/cinematographers?
    Is there professional sound?
Will there be any color toning?

On average you're looking at a 3-7 minute highlight film and if they offer a doc style, it'll likely be between 30min to 60min
Also, be sure to ask them what they're going to edit. Sometimes only the highlight films are edited and anything longer isn't stylized.

If you can afford it I would try to have them stay to film speeches and first dance, etc. Since theyll already be there you may want those special moments filmed since you cant rewatch pictures!

I just don't want to spend $2k on video. I don't want to spend much on the wedding period. Lol. It's just one day to me.

I agree with PP where if you can afford it, try to have them stay for your reception too to record those moments like first dance and what not. But if that's not as important to you as just recording the ceremony and vows portion thats ok.
Wedding videos are normally highlight videos that aren't that long like 3-10 minutes

Aha I know that sounds kind of like.. cost vs worth analysis and it sounds like it's costing a lot for something not exactly worth it but there's a lot of hours they spend editing and sifting through the video clips they capture

I'm not sure where you are located but I found a videographer for around $600 for 6 hours so that will cover everything that is important to me! I got one that does "raw footage" but the way the camera works is it films in an edited way, not like your uncle using a camera would film. I just wanted footage, nothing fancy and I didnt care about a 3 minute highlight video. Maybe if you're open to something like that you can find cheaper alternatives? I wouldnt have spent more than like $1000 on video max.

Ask about having still images printed afterward. Will they? How much per print? Can you have printed any image you like from the video taping, even if they edit it out of the final video? There is a big difference here in who will do what. If a particular shot that goes by on video captures a moment your photographer does not, maybe just a look or expressions, and you see it in the video, will they print it for you? Also, ask about rights to use of your video, or pictures. Some contracts have a line in there and hat says all images they take are the property of the video/photo studio, and they can use forever with no separate permissions. So one day, online, you see a ski area ad for weddings held in their off season. And you are the wedding couple, because your video or photographer company are selling your images they took for your wedding, as stock photos for advertising in magazines or online. Ask. Some only claim ownership so they release only good pictures, no duds with their name on them. Protecting their own reputation. But many have a side business in selling images, without your permission, because the permission is tucked in one if the small print paragrapher. My sister's photo, taken just before she entered the chapel, showed her anxious and drawn brows, troubled look. She signed, read no details of the contract. And when visiting family in Canada, saw her wedding dress/awful face on an antacids commercial, with an after photo, her happy and coming back up the aisle pick. Sold for a profit, and they signed a 3 page contract saying in the middle, in fine print, that photograhic and video images were the sole property and under the intellectual property control of the studio. Nothing they could do. And in the last 3 years, they have found themselves in 4 other places. Ask. Read .

He probably gets jobs for people who spend $350 for a t shirt. Not reality, for most of us.
