Videography- worth it?

Amanda, on October 12, 2017 at 2:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Thoughts on videography? I've heard a lot of brides regret not hiring a videographer to capture the day, so I'm leaning towards adding it to the budget. My fiance likes the idea but isn't sure if the price is worth it because he thinks we'd never watch it. Opinions/suggestions?!

Pretty much everyone thinks it's worth it IF it's in your budget

One thing we splurged on was getting high quality photographers (2) and a videographer.

Besides memories, photos & videos are all you'll have left!

Even if YOU never watch it, your future children (if any) and other relatives might want to watch it.

When I was a kid, I loved watching my parents, aunts, & uncles wedding videos

Imagine watching your favorite movie. Now imagine only ever being able to see it in pictures, as opposed to actually seeing the movie. Pictures just don't compare.

Plus every bride I've ever spoken with says the day will FLY by in the blink of an eye. It's nice to have a video to be able to relive it.

We discussed this earlier today. Check out this thread, along with some user's wedding videos.

Thank you, @QueSeraSera. I often hear people say they don't want videography, because they won't watch their video many times. But honestly, I don't expect I'll stare at my wedding pictures 24/7 either. For my FH and I, videography was even MORE important than photography.

We haven't gotten through the full edit yet, but I've watched our highlight video several times. I love re-watching it, but I also love that I can send it to the people who weren't able to make it like someone I asked to be a BM who had to back out last minute.

DH and I knew we wanted a videographer but the following are two reasons we are thankful we had one:

    1. We were pulled in so many directions that there were moments we heard about after the wedding that we missed seeing. The video allowed us to witness those moments and how special they were.

    2. DH's 99 year old Grandmother passed away about 5 months after our wedding. We received the final videos just a couple weeks after she passed away and I will never forget the look on DH's face while we watched it.

Thanks for the feedback ladies! I started reaching out to some yesterday to get an idea of price and I'm hoping we can rearrange some of the budget to fit in. I think I would regret not having it since so many people say how quickly the day goes!

I actually made this a priority (and somehow got it into my budget). Frankly, I had a middle-larger size wedding, and I did not sleep well the whole week (I was pretty tired during the wedding). The day went so fast, and I loved being able to watch the video to see everything I may not have remembered. I didnt care about spending on the little things as much (invitations, place cards, etc.) so I could prioritize a videographer. No regrets.
