Videography or no videography

Elizabeth, on July 12, 2021 at 8:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 16
So i found a videographer who is breaking into the business who is 1500 for live and 5-6 min teaser video. 3 hrs of raw footage and so on. My fiancé is against the price (even though his cousin is paying for it) and told me that i need to figure out if its really that important to me. Should i have someone record it on their phone? Or say sorry love, i want the videographer. Help! I can't make this decision.

We're not doing it. I can't justify spending over $1,000 for a 3-5 minute video. My fiance agrees.

My sister had one for her 1st wedding. It was nice to look at once, but still not worth it to us.

It’s not something that is important to me at all, I’d rather just have pictures I can look back at. I wouldn’t sit down and watch a video again. It’s really personal preference. It would be much nicer quality than if someone were to record on their phone.

We got a video and I don't regret it at all.

That price is SUPER AFFORDABLE, especially with the raw footage.

And, no, you don't want someone recording on their phone. Even today's phones aren't going to give you the quality you want.

Hello ! I choose not to have a video at all and I don't regret. The photos are great and they're sufficient for us. Some friends were recording on their phones, it's not professionnal, but it's ok ! I just feel that after some time we tend to replace real memories by the images of the video, and I really wanted to remember my wedding as I saw it ;-)

We chose to get a videographer specifically for the raw footage. I personally don't care about the teaser video we'll get, but we're both excited to have all of our wedding footage to go back and see people who celebrated with us. FH and I lost 3 grandparents in a span of like 6 months last year so we've both been super emotional over the thought of having those memories recorded with our loved ones.

We have hired a videographer for our wedding day and I am super excited that we have!

I was previously married and decided to "cheap out" on the wedding video for my first wedding and I gladly will tell anyone NOT to do this, you might enjoy it at first but without the help of someone who is professional the quality is not going to be up to par.

We were against it because we didn't see the point in paying over $1k for a video we'd watch maybe once a year. We ended up booking one because they reached out to me about their holiday sale, and it was 50% all of their packages, so I jumped at that opportunity lol.

Everyone we know that has had one has said they don't regret booking one. They love the fact that you have a video that shows everyone's expressions, dancing, etc. Photos are great, but they said getting to 'relive' their wedding day was worth it.

I will say though, if we weren't able to get as great of a deal as we did, we wouldn't have booked one.

Wow that is really affordable! I would go for it. We loved watching the raw footage and everyone's emotions and dancing.

We are absolutely hiring a videography. This was a top priority for me because I want to be able to see everyone celebrating together for years to come. We are also doing a specialty video guestbook instead of regular so that also makes it a must.

We had a videographer and it was by far the best money we spent! We absolutely love our videos and we watch them often. Your wedding day will go by so fast and at the end, it will be a total blur! Having your wedding videos to go back and look at really help you relive your day. Not to mention, you have the movement and sounds of your family and guests that you just don't get from photos. $1.500 is a great price for a videographer. I say book it!

We booked a photographer/videographer team and I'm super excited about it. Both my FH and I have lost one set of our grandparents and we want to be able to look back and be able to hear them laugh or see their eyes light up when they're not around anymore. Plus there are moments I wont see otherwise like my FH walking his mom down the aisle or my wedding party's entrances and plenty of moments when we're being pulled every direction at the reception.

We didn't have a videographer and we have no regrets! But at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference

Do you live near a local college?? My friend is a communications major specializing in film and she will be doing our wedding for a VERY affordable price. You could contact your local college's communications department and see if they would have any students interested in filming your wedding. That way you may be able to give a student the opportunity to learn and you the opportunity to save money! If videography is important to you, this may be a great way to still have video while not upsetting your fiance and staying within a reasonable budget.

I would reach out to them! See if there are students who would be interested. Ours is doing the wedding for a third of the price you listed. It's worth a shot!
