Videographer

Kaitlyn, on November 16, 2019 at 9:12 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21
I want to know from the community, is a videographer something anyone has ever regretted? I didn’t think i needed one but now I’m convinced we do. I’m worried it’s going to mess up the budget but I can’t imagine not having those memories or regretting having the video to remember the day by.

I don't think it's a decision any would regret but I say if you budget it do it.
Pros. Actually being able to edit and remember that day how you'd like. Great video Memories of ppl that may pass away. Being able to actually see wedding third person, you'll see things that you didn't even know happened.
    Cons. $

Most couples who don't book a videographer will realize after the wedding how much they regret not doing so. If a picture is a thousand words, then a video is a million. You get to relive and rekindle all the emotion that happened on a day that went by sooo fast - the vows, the ceremony, family, friends, music, decorations, details, food, dances, toasts, and much more. It's just something that you can't get with just high-quality photos. Most people will make the mistake of spending too much on things for their wedding (only to realize that much of it isn't useful once it's all over). A highlight video is much more valueable.

We didn’t have a videographer and over a year later I have no regrets about that.

I think if you've the budget for it it would be good but if you don't then it's ok not to have it.

My fiance's brother got married in Turks and Caicos and the resort provided a free videographer with their wedding package. They absolutely hated it because they made it into more of a production rather than letting it be natural. If you decide to get one, just make sure they're good.

We did not have a video made, and not once in 12 years have we wished we did. Having watched some friends' videos, it is nothing worth doing again, and I now refuse all efforts to get us to watch someone else's wedding. I like my own memories of other people's weddings. But not a movie from another point of view, of that wedding. To me it is something to experience , not to view as an outsider would. To each their own choice. But so many who pay thousands, admit that they may have watched it once or twice, then put it away. Several of my siblings and hubby's did have videos made. And when someone asks for advice they all say spend the money on your home or honeymoon , don't waste it on a video.

Only reason why we're getting one is because I have memory loss and I know at our wedding I won't be able to remember everything and I told my FH that I wanted a Videographer for our wedding and for them to capture those moments because I know I won't be to remember it due to my memory.

My fiancé has memory problems too, she’s had a lot of head injuries from sports and such, so I think she’ll really appreciate having it later on

I was in the same boat. I am getting married in February and I eventually booked one! As everyone else stated below I think it would be cool to look back on and have a moving picture verses just photos

In my opinion, I think a videographer is unnecessary and a waste of money. Some cost more than a photographer.
    Again that's my own opinion.
My fiance and I agreed that we're not likely to sit down and watch the video all the time. I'd rather have photographs. This is YOUR wedding. Talk it over with your fiance and see what you guys both agree on 😁

We decided not to do one because it's expensive and because we figured we wouldn't watch it all that often! Plus, video formats change so often who knows if we'll even be able to watch it in 20 years!

I was in the same boat as you.

We started off not wanting one, but then decided we really do want one.

Pictures can only cover so much of your day. The video will be a great memory of loved ones who pass in the many years following your wedding. I have heard from others who had a videographer that they were happy they did because there was so much they didn't get to see on their wedding day that the videographer recorded.

I doubt I will regret it later.

We weren’t going to have one, but our wonderful planner knew of a guy and his wife just starting out who would do it for free. He was a big dude, but honestly, besides a couple of guided getting ready shots, we didn’t even notice either of them. They were super sweet and we got an excellent highlight video out of it. I’m not too emotional but that thing made me tear up. It let everyone that wasn’t there feel like they were even though it was only 5-6 minutes. I guess we really lucked out after reading what some of you guys have been through. I suppose I would suggest doing it if you can with someone who is more of a natural. SO worth it.

I regretted not having one for a few months after our wedding but not really anymore. I’m VERY glad we had two photographers because those photos are priceless.

Videography is expensive. Is it less to have the raw footage shot, then maybe a year or so later get it edited????

Do it if you can afford it. You will not regret seeing footage of yourself smiling with your husband on your wedding day.

We decided against it because it’s so expensive and there is no guarantee that we will be able to watch it in twenty years due to technology changing!

My FH and I decided against a videographer when we found out the cost could be more than $3000. A few weeks ago we saw a co-workers wedding video and we really liked it. So I started messaging videographers and talked to about 4 of them. I really liked one of them so my FH and I met with him to talk about it. Right after that we decided that we didn't have enough money in the budget and decided that was something that we didn't need to have for the wedding. When my FH called him to tell him that we couldn't make it work with the money right now, he asked us what would work. We discussed the options and thankfully he was willing to work with us on the payment schedule. So we now have our videographer booked!
