Videographer

Amanda, on October 17, 2019 at 1:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
Help! My wedding was 4 months ago and we have been in a battle with our videographer ever since. We signed together with her and the photographer. The photographer was great and did all we had expected of her. The videographer was good though the wedding, then after the wedding was super slow at getting back to us. She doesn’t reply to messages for weeks, and gave us a very unprofessional video 1/3 of the length per the contract. Once we reached out she replied once again super slow and then added a bunch of random clips into the video just to make it long enough per the contract. The end result is terrible and not at all what we paid for. Any suggestions on how to handle this?

I would send an email expressing your disappointment with the quality of work that you received. I would also state that if they refuse to rectify the situation, you'll be forced to leave very honest and unfortunately negative reviews for them online. That generally lights a fire in them to make things right, online reviews can destroy a business. If they don't respond or fix the situation, I would warn all other future brides. I'm sorry you didn't receive what you paid for, luckily your photographer was great Smiley smile Good luck!

I agree with this. I would try to get a refund & all the raw footage if she will give it to you before you leave honest reviews online. If they won't work with you (maybe after about a month of communicating), I'd leave reviews on EVERYTHING you can so wedding wire, the knot, yelp, google, facebook, etc. to warn other brides.

Since you signed the photographer and videographer together, do they belong to a company? If so, I would contact someone else, like a supervisor or customer service. If not, is this a partnership she has with the photographer? Maybe try contacting them.. if it's a small business, the photographer would likely not want a negative review and could help out.

They work together but are two separate companies. I’ve reached out to ask for help and the photographer doesn’t want to get involved.

I agree with both of these PPs. Give them a call on the phone. Don’t send another email. Is this a sole proprietor or is it a larger company? If it’s a larger company, reach out above this person. Be polite but firm that you want this fixed. You have a signed agreement, which is a legal contract. You could take them to small claims court if you needed to. Do you want to? Probably not... I would at least see about getting ALL footage, explain your disappointment with them not honoring the contract, and if they don’t rectify it, leave very honest reviews at the places MrsD mentioned and anywhere else you can. I’d also insist on a partial refund even if they fix it. Totally unacceptable.

As stated above I would leave a review. Truly there is nothing wrong with an open and honest review. Without those how would we be able to make a good choice. Not only would I leave a review pretty much everywhere just so all brides searching for these services would be able to know how it may turn out. I would also contact the BBB and let them hash it out for you.

Try to get the raw footage from her or take what you have and see if you can have a video done with WeddingMix?

Look at the wording on the contract ? Does this person rely on reviews on wedding wire or knot? You could somehow bring that up to them that this poor service will effect their social media. Or google about unsatisfied wedding vendor problem and see what comes up. Small claims court is probably not the direction you want but I can’t think of anything else!
