I’m indecisive about if I should or shouldn’t hire one.

Pros- The videos are a part of your wedding you can keep forever and watch anytime you want. Your wedding day will go by so quick, and many parts will be a blur. Having the videos really allow you to relive your entire day all over again! We watch our videos often and I still get butterflies!
    Cons- None!

We hired a Videographer for our wedding and I do not have any regrets! That and the pictures are the only thing you will have of the wedding once it is all over, besides memories and your Husband lol. But it will be something nice to have and look back on.

Daughter always wanted one, but it didn't originally fit into her budget. About 5-6 weeks before the wedding she received an unexpected Christmas bonus and decided to look for a videographer. She'd been very picky about all her other vendors and booked them well in advance, but with barely a month to go she didn't have a ton of options. She tried Thumbtack and ended up finding a great option. They charged $100 per hr for 2 videographers and all the raw footage. She hired them for 7 hours (first look through cake cutting) and she chose to buy a 6-7 minute highlight film for an additional $800, so for $1500 she ended up with 6 hours of raw footage (that includes live audio, so conversations that were going on, the actual music played, etc.) and an awesome 6.5 min highlight film. She is SO glad to have all of it. The day goes fast and there are things you're going to miss. If you can make it work, I don't think it's common for people to say, "Wow! That was a waste....", but there are tons of people who say the one thing they regret is not having video. (Daughter also had a wonderful photographer and ended up with over 1100 edited images, but she's still really glad to have the video -- they are not the same.) Good luck! Smiley heart

If you don't have the budget for video I'd just nix it. But if you do, I'd get it. It's a live action recap of your wedding so why not

I didn’t originally want a videographer but ended up changing my mind and got one. For me it was a big battle between having 2 photographers or spending a little more to have video. Ultimately we chose video so that we can capture the speeches, ceremony, see reactions of our friends, and have the footage of the first dance with my dad. He’s been sick lately and I wanted to have the video in case something would happen. The biggest con is definitely the price, but if you’re able to budget it in, it’s worth it

Also I’d you do decide to do video decide what’s important for you, highlight reel vs. full length. It was crazy to see how much some videographers we’re charging just for a 3-5 minute highlight video that didn’t actually include any of the speeches or very little of the ceremony.

We got lucky and found a photo/video company that was running a special and gave us both formats plus raw files for a lot cheaper than other companies were offering

I initially did not want a videographer because I hate watching/listening to myself on camera.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized how much I actually wanted a videographer.

It will be a wonderful way to remember our wedding. There is a lot you won't see on your wedding day that the videographer will catch. There is only so much that pictures can capture (many of which are posed pictures)

It will also be a great way to remember family or friends who pass away over the years after your wedding!

I can't think of any cons other than it adding (very well worth it) expenses.

We hired one, and we are SO happy we did. I honestly can't imagine not having the videos.

Has anyone had luck finding a videographer less than $1000? I’m in Charleston SC and have so far only found ones that range $1500+ for 3-5 minute films. TIA!
