Videographer

Allison, on September 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM Posted in Planning 3 16

I was initially going to forgo a videographer to save money, but I kept hearing about brides regretting not getting one, so now I'm seraching for one! What did you all spend on a videographer? I've found pretty cheap ones, but I wasn't super impressed by their videos. I just figured if I'm going to spend money, I might as well spend a little extra to get a video and raw footage that will be great quality. I'm in the DC area for reference, if anyone has hired one in this area!

Same here! I really didn’t think videography was needed since we were going to have a photographer. But after hearing so many brides here on WW saying that they either regretted not getting one, or that it was the best investment/their favorite thing from their weddings, I decided to add videography! (thank goodness for the helpful brides on wedding wire!)
From what I’ve seen, videography prices vary A LOT by location. Our videographer is in New Orleans and we are spending a little over $2,000. Prices vary a lot according to what you get in your package also. We are having 7 hrs of coverage, and will get a highlight video that can be shared on social media (the length of 1 song), a full-length edited video (30-90 mins, depending on how long we want it), as well as all raw footage.

My photographer/videographer bundle is the thing I wanted to pay whatever amount to get my favourite company/people. It is probably the most important vendor to me. We are paying about 3,500 for video. We will get raw footage of all the important things (full ceremony, all the dances, speeches, etc) and then a social media highlights (1-2 minutes) and an 8-12 minute fully edited video. we have 2 videographers on the team, and they will be there for about 10 hours. If it helps, I am also in a big city area

We're paying $3000 for our video and we're in Missouri and that's about average here. Since you're in the DC area, I'm assuming the average may be a little higher.

We are paying $1750 + $150 for drone footage in SW Virginia! That includes one videographer, 5-8 minute highlight video, and 1.5 hour video of ceremony/reception.

My fiance and I initially weren't going to hire a videographer, but since we postponed due to COVID, we decided to book one! We ended up paying a little more than we had planned on, but once we saw their videos, we both loved them, and decided that it was worth the extra money. We're getting a highlight video, a full length video (which includes the entire ceremony, getting ready, first look, cocktail hour, reception formal events, dancing, etc), and the raw footage. Prices definitely vary. I recommend watching all of the example videos and choosing a videographer whose videos you love.

We decided on one last night! Just emailed him this morning. He’s actually 2.5 hours away from our venue, but a friend of a friend used him, so I trust that he’ll show up and do a great job. His videos are great and we’re getting everything we want for a little under our max budget!

The package is only for 6 hours though, so hopefully that’s long enough! I think we only found one videographer that was in our budget for more than 6 hours. The majority of them were over budget if we wanted more than 6.

I would think 6 hours will be enough time to capture everything! Definitely plenty of time to capture all the formal events (ceremony, speeches, cake cutting, first dance, etc). Depending on what time your ceremony starts and how long your reception will run, the only thing they might miss is if you're doing a grand exit at the end of the reception, but if you're not doing that, 6 hours should be sufficient.

Update! My first videographer's prices increased when I talked to him on the phone, so we found another one. We're now getting 10 hours of coverage for way less money!
