Videographer, worth it?

Natalie, on February 19, 2020 at 6:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
Hey everyone!! So this is the first time I’ve ever posted but I just wanted to reach out and see what everyone’s opinions on videographers were? Are you having one, why or why not? And if you used one at your wedding do you feel it was worth the money?

I really wanted a video because I wanted to have like a highlight of the whole night. But honestly if you don’t have the budget for it then it’s ok to forego it as long as you have some photos to capture memories

I’m sure I would have enjoyed a video but I didn’t have another thousand dollars and I was completely happy and content with my photos.

We had one and we are SO happy we splurged on that. Having the videos are amazing, getting them back was way more exciting than I ever could have dreamed. We've watched them like 5 times already and our families love them too.

We didn’t have one and a year and a half later we have no regrets about that.

We're having one for sure. It's just always something I wanted. It's something to remember that photos might not capture. I also think having a highlight video will be nice to look at from time to time. If it's not in your budget, don't worry. It's nothing to stress over. Some people don't get it either cause of finances or they just aren't interested.

We went back and forth on this, with the cost and whatnot it seemed like a lot to add. But after reaching out to married friends, all of them said their biggest regret was not hiring a videographer! The photos are great, but they don't capture the seconds of play by play moments of when your FH saw you come down the aisle for the first time. They can't let you play back someone laughing, or your first dance. Pictures are fabulous, don't get me wrong, but I wanted video, especially of the ceremony itself. After all the money, effort, and energy going into this wedding, I don't want to let myself forget a single moment Smiley smile

I feel like if you have the budget for it, then do it. Video is different than photos as you can see people's facial expressions and mannerisms, which would be nice as you get older and older family members pass away. It's the one thing I hear most often when brides are asked one thing they wish they had done. We weren't going to have a videographer because of budget, but we were actually able to find a friend of a friend who is a professional corporate videographer who is expanding his portfolio to weddings. Because of this, he's offering us a very significant discount, which is in-line with our budget. I'm feeling confident since he is a professional and we have a contract in place to protect both parties.

I’m such a sucker for the highlight videos. Literally cry with every one I see posted. So yes, we are having one! They are expensive so we have cut our flower and cake budgets to squeeze it in.

We hired a videographer. The highlight videos are so cute and I love the option of getting to relive our wedding day again instead of just looking at pictures. Smiley smile

I personally couldn't afford the multi-thousand dollar wedding videos. But, I also know I would absolutely hate to not have my wedding ceremony, etc. captured by video. So I found someone I went to high school with and she's doing a highlight video for us for $200! It's not going to be extravagant, and have drone footage, but I don't need all that. Just a simple video to remember one of the best days of my life Smiley smile

We couldn’t afford it, but FMIL and FH really want video so she offered to cover it. I’m fine either way, because all I care about is marrying the love of my life(and getting it photographed!!! Lol)

We did, but we also got one heck of a discount. Still, we are very glad we did, as we have recordings of our vows, as well as the swordfight we did at the reception.

It is pricey, so sometimes it's best to think about how much video you want.

My family has watched and rewatched my sisters wedding video (about 8 minute highlight reel) many times over the years and enjoy it every time. We remember how fun it was and all the silly moments and sweet moments and it gets us a pumped. We don’t really watch the prewedding video/story of us, so skip that if budget is an issue.

We looked at their wedding album once when it was done. And I think once again to show their kids what mommy and daddy’s wedding looked like. This tends to be the case with a lot of couples I know. Max, they may have framed a couple of of their fave photos from wedding but they’ve viewed their videos a LOT and have rarely revisited their albums. Personally I’m spending about the same amount of money on photography as in videography. It’s worth it. If I had to choose, I’d spend more on the video.
