Videographer worth it?

Kelly, on November 15, 2017 at 10:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

So I'm super into social media, and I see these gorgeous wedding videos that they posted and I've always want to have one for my wedding. But I never realized how difficult it was to get one that does photography as well. I could always get a separate photographer and then a videographer but both charge the same amount. My brother used separate ones at his wedding and they always clashed and got upset when they were in each other ways. I think if I can't find someone that does both for a good price, I may opt out of a videographer. Any suggestions? From Utah if anyone has any recommendations

I opted out and used Wedding Mix to create a video using videos from friends and family. I had asked my SIL and H's Step Brother to capture a few minutes of footage from the ceremony, first dances, and speeches. Well, they went above and beyond and even got congrats videos from all the tables at the wedding. It was tremendous. Wedding Mix lets you pick what you want and then professionally edits everything. I am really impressed by their customer service and can't wait to see the end result.

That's a good idea! I know my parents are going to film the ceremony on their video camera, but it's so outdated you can't even recognize the people in the video. Maybe I'll give them a new video camera as a thank you haha

Lots of vendors will offer more then one service i.e. photography and videography although too often they're really only great at one of those things. I'd suggest finding a photographer and asking them which videographers they've worked with before so you know they'll get along. Also as far as whether or not to get a videographer, I never wanted one but after seeing my FSIL's I knew I had to have one. Good luck!

That's also a good idea. I was going to talk to my brother about the guy he hired because it was incredible, and maybe do your advice vice versa. But i know he charged 2k+ which is ridiculously expensive, even though i know how much work goes into it, but i figured another $1500 for a photographer

My photographer actually recommended my videographer so I know they work well together. Maybe you could find one or the other and ask for recommendations

I say look for a photographer that does a bit of videograph. Get 2-n-1 deal. Or just go for videographer n get still shots from the videos

Mine were from the same company and worked very well together. As your photographer if they recommend something.

you will not regret having a videographer

We decided to get a videographer because I didn't want to regret anything. It was super fun watching the video with my husband. We both noticed things from the ceremony that we had completely forgotten about. That's kind of it though. We watched it once. No point in watching it again. It's been the same with pictures though. We looked through them and now the thumb drive just sits in a drawer. Maybe in a few years we'll be more excited. Just my experience.

We are using the Pros (thepros.com) that way, they all work together already generally and I got a cheaper price by booking the photog, video, and DJ all in one package!

Great videographers cost great money. If it's worth it to you, go for it. If you pick someone cheap? You'll watch it once.

We booked our photographer who is also a videographer, she just brings someone with her to film. We only booked pictures for now and if we have extra wiggle room in the budget then we can ask her for a video as well. That's one good thing about having a long engagement!
