Videographer- worth it or skip it?

Sydney, on October 15, 2020 at 12:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 34

I have heard mixed reviews about videographers... I have a few friends who say they watch their video once a month if not more and others who have seen it twice. Is getting a videographer worth it?

I've been married for over a year, and we skipped a videographer. I have yet to regret it.

We hired a videographer and have zero regrets. Do we watch it every month? No, not even every other month. But it was still well worth the money. It's great to share with friends and family who couldn't make it, watch on anniversaries, and share with our future children. Photos are great, but they'll never portray the music playing when you walk down the aisle, the sound of your partner's voice when they read their vows, or the laughs of all of your loved ones together in the same room, maybe for the only time ever.

Everything I have read from people who didn't hire one said they regretted it. If you can't justify the expense, buy a few inexpensive gopro cameras and pass them around. You can use the cameras for future events as well.

I originally thought I wanted one, only because my friends have done it and I loved the videos. BUT only one girl actually watches hers like weekly, which I def. won't do. It's nice, but we're opting out. That money can go to something else, plus we'll have our photographer and her second photographer there, so I don't see a need for it.

Ask yourself this question: Would you watch that video enough times to make the money you spent on it worth it?

I'd say worth it! I haven't gotten my professional video back yet, but I'm so excitedly waiting and looking forward to watching our ceremony again! Yes, even though we'll always have the memories and photographs, a video will be like rewatching those memories. Also our ceremony went by so fast, so having a video will help me remember all that happened!

We skipped it and have zero regrets. Budget was not the issue--we easily could have hired one but we simply didn't feel the need. At the end of the day it's a personal decision! Our DOC used a gopro to capture our ceremony, speeches, and first dance, and that was more than enough for us.

I did not hire one and have zero regrets. I have a nice camera so I had my aunt record our ceremony for free. Now I can watch it when ever I want.

I also skipped it. I got married three years ago and have zero regrets. I personally don't like the "trailer" version of videography and knew that I would never watch a full length version of the ceremony.

I'm extremely sentimental and would love to have a videographer. However, I can't afford spending several thousand dollars on it. I've found a woman who does photography/videography on the side who will do it for a couple hundred dollars, so I'm going to do that since it's still something (I've seen her work and it's pretty good! I don't feel I need some amazing cinematic video). I know people who skipped and don't regret, but everyone's priorities are different!

We made room in our budget for one! Everyone tells me how totally worth it is. My fiancé and I like the idea that a video will capture the raw moments rather just posed photos.

We didn’t hire a videographer, not because of budget. It’s all personal, we just didn’t feel we needed a video. We had our main photographer and a second shooter and that was enough. And plus our family and friends got plenty of videos of us, ceremony, first dance, cutting the cake and etc.

Yes, hired one for our micro wedding + yes, hiring one for our big wedding! I am a huge sucker for the highlight videos. I will literally cry watching a strangers wedding, lol so heck yeah! We just got our micro wedding video back and I’ve watched it 10 million times. Totally worth it IMO.

Totally worth it, if you can fit it in your budget! I watched our ceremony the other day and cried lol. I don't watch it everyday or monthly. That was actually my first time watching it since we got married in February.

I’m not getting one cause besides maybe watching it once or twice, we would never watch it ever again lol. Just doesn’t seem worth it to us. Especially since our original plans were scaled back so much.

I don't think it's worth it. My parents hired one in thr 80s and we havent watched the vhs since 2000 nor have we made any effort to switch the footoage to dvd or any other format.

My fiancé doesn’t care for one, but it’s on my list! I’m sooooooo excited to watch it. Everyone also says the day flies by so being able to watch it, take it in, and have those memories are beautiful.

My parents also had one and we’d watch it a lot when we were younger.

We hired a videographer for our upcoming wedding because it was something that I wanted to be able to look back on in the future. It definitely adds to the budget, but I feel is worth it.
