No, you do not need 10 hours. Talk to the videographer about your timeline please.

10 hours seems like a really long time. The videographer that we are thinking of doing has three packages-- the "basic" with four hours, the "plus" with five hours, and the "premium" with seven hours. The premium "includes up to seven hours, from the start of filming, up to three locations, and us filming the bridal preparations. We arrive two hours before the ceremony begins to film the bride getting ready and taking photos beforehand." That being said, they also offer an additional hour for an a la carte price if another package was chosen (or if you wanted 8 hours.) But 10 hours seems pretty high, to me anyways.

Our photographer and videographer were a husband/wife team. He shoots all of our family events: weddings, anniversary parties, family shoots, etc so he gave us unlimited photography and videography for the day. They showed up around 2 pm to do some getting ready shots (which really wasn’t necessary as hair and make up was done so it was really just my MOH trying to help me get dressed and I was so nervous and she’s so clumsy, it was just us falling all over each other. Lots of laughs but not you’re typical getting ready pictures haha) and then followed us around for first look pictures. We got our late night snacks delivered around 1015, they snapped a few shots and took some footage and left. If you’re set on getting ready footage, it can be fun! But yes, ten hours is way too much. I am excited she was there for the first look. We get a highlight video and the unedited reel of all the footage and I can’t wait to see everything.

I chose to have my photographer and videographer for 10 hours each. I have specific pictures and shots that I want and they are spread out over the whole day. My media team is showing up at 11 with a 12:30 first look time. Plus I have an hour booked for sunset pictures so 8-9 PM is set aside for pictures and video running around the golf course. If my wedding was in the fall and not the peak of summer, I would only need 8 hours coverage for what I want. But because we chose our date when we did, we need more coverage.

I ended up not having a videographer at all and Photography with 2 shooters the entire time. Family took some video. Yes videography would have been nice but had to cut for budget and it went. The photographers were so good I don’t feel I missed out!
