Hey all. Just curious...did anyone regret not having a videographer at their wedding?

I don't see why anyone wouldn't regret not having one. I wish we could but it's just not in our budget.

I want one because the day goes by so fast and I would like it to relive it. Im spending a hell of a lot of money I want to see everything.

We didn't originally have it in our budget, but we're adding it in! For what we're paying overall, it seems worth it to add a little more. We talked about doing one for a shorter amount of time, primarily getting ready and the ceremony instead of the entire time to save money. It ended up not being that much more to do it for longer, but we're so glad we decided to go for it!

I think having a videographer is like having kids lol. Those who choose to have them, wouldn't trade them for the world, and can't imagine life without them. And those who choose not to have them, don't know what they're missing, and are perfectly happy/okay with that. lol Everyone I've spoken to who had a videographer says it was totally worth it, and many who didn't have one, say they don't regret it. Although, when asking people what they regret most about their wedding, one of the first things I always hear is: "I wish I would've had a videographer!" IMO, pictures just don't compare to video, being able to hear peoples voices and feeling like you are in the moment again! If you can squeeze it in the budget, go for it.

I would want one but can't afford one at the moment Smiley smile if the budget allows...that will be my last splurge even if it's just for the ceremony and a little of reception!

When I got engaged 2 years ago it was not even on my radar. I hate having my picture taken I couldn't imagine wanting a video! Then a close friends mother died, and the wedding video is the last footage and last sound of her voice (during a toast) that she has. And that made me think how much I want it - for the memories of the day, to have our vows in spoken word and for preservation of family and friends.

I thought no at first but we did get one and I am glad we did. I remember what I remember and it's a small portion of what actually happened so I love the fact that I have that all in one spot. To see the things I didn't get to really see and to relive the moments that I remember. I vote for getting one if you can fit it into your budget.

We are up in the air about this. My best friend just got married and she regrets getting it. She said the video turned out great but she doesn't feel like they will watch it and it wasn't as special as she thought. She told me to save my money.

Yes, I regretted not getting one for my first wedding. As the bride or groom, you don't actually get to see your wedding the way your guests see it. All those months of planning, all those details, gone so quickly and when it's over, you realize you were so caught up in the day that it all flew by so fast. This time I made sure to have it in my budget so I can see the results of all my planning and see my wedding from my guests' perspective. Plus, I think it will be cool to sit down with my FH after the wedding when all the craziness has passed and we're actually married and can breathe a sigh of relief to "relive" that day, just the two of us.

It wasn't in our budget but lately I'm feeling like I'm gonna miss out on it. So I quoted a few videographers the last few days. I'm leaning towards getting one

If you aren't convinced without the influence of others, do you really want it? It's one of those services, if you have the budget for a really good videographer, great. Otherwise skip it.

I just booked one a couple of months ago since they're expensive. I told myself I would be fine without but I'm the person who watches the sappy wedding videos on Youtube so I just had to.

I can't speak for anyone else, but here's my personal reason for skipping it:

In my daily life, I take both pictures and videos if something happens that I want to capture. I go back and look at old pictures fairly regularly. But I hardly ever re-watch videos. If I'm looking through old pictures in my photo library and come across a vid, I look at the thumbnail and go, "Oh yeah, that's the video I took of FH's grandma blowing out her birthday candles." And then I click to the next picture without watching the vid.

Knowing that about myself, I'd rather have a kick-ass photo album and spend money elsewhere in my budget, instead of paying for a video that I (personally) am unlikely to re-watch.

We got one, and I'm so glad. We just got our highlight video yesterday and I've watched it about 50 times. I'm obsessed. It's so fun seeing everyone celebrating and watching everything you missed. 100% worth the money.

I got a videographer, and even upgraded the package to have 2 videographer, drone, and raw

footage because I want to be able to watch and remember that day when it is all over. I also want to be able to relive that night with my family when we all get older.

We had zero regrets about hiring one. Best decision by both of us so far. Our pro photos were ok, but our video was amazing!

It was on the must-have's list for FH and I. It was less important to us than photography but every time I watch highlight clips, I tear up. I can't wait to cry over my own video, lolol

I hope on getting a videographer, but we're still deciding -- we'd like to show our families who won't be able to make it (especially those in the Philippines). Anyway, I had a friend who regretted hers. She said that there was only one videographer -- she feels like there were a few things that were missed and it took him a while to set up for moments they wanted captured.

I didn't want one and now after reading like 20 of these type of threads I'm starting to consider it.
