Videographer/ Photobooth

Amairani, on February 9, 2022 at 8:20 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
I keep contemplating about hiring a videographer. My fiancé says he doesn’t care much for it and prefers only a photographer, but I keep hearing about people regretting not getting one. I was all for it at first, now I don’t feel the need to have it as an expense if my fiancé feels the way he does about it.

However he does want a Photo Booth and so do I, but I keep thinking is that an unnecessary expense?

For me personally, I'd pick a videographer over the photo booth. I was the opposite, I wanted a photo booth and didn't find a videographer necessary lol. We ended up getting a videographer, and instead did a polaroid photo album so our guests could take photos and put them in our guest book along with signing. NO REGRETS.

I will say that we got an amazing deal on our videographer because he was doing an end of the year sale. But we just got our teaser and we were amazed at his work. Photographs are beautiful and a must-have, but there's just something about having video footage from your wedding that makes it even more special.

I’m doing all of the the things, haha. If possible, find a photographer who also does video, that takes the cost down significantly rather than hiring two different vendors. My partner and I used to work for a Photobooth so having one at our wedding was important to us. The company we used to work for now does rental booths that they ship to you, you set it up for your wedding, and then ship it back (Pixilated Photobooth in Baltimore if you’re interested).

I would pick videographer over photobooth - now here's an idea... there was a wedding i went to recently who their videographer/photographer actually asked guests if they wanted to leave a message for the bride and groom, he will record it. so not sure if that's something you'd want to consider. it's not a photobooth but it's still some way for guests to interact and it's a part of videography

Do you want a videographer for the quality of the production or just the documentation? If its just the documentation of the ceremony and youre not so concerned about the editing you could always ask someone attending to film the ceremony.

You could also look on thumbtack or reach out to local technical school or university art programs and see if there are students who would want to take on the project for their portfolio. It will be cheaper and the quality will probably still be very good.

I'm prioritizing a photobooth over a videographer because I have a tight budget and my main priority is guest experience (the photobooth is fun to interact with and they get to take print outs of their cute pics home as favors).

I might feel a bit differently if I A) had a larger budget and B) had plans to have children who I would want to get to see the video.

I agree with others that asking a friend or family member could be a way to get video of your ceremony. With a tripod you could even check the angle and then all they have to do is hit record.

I’ve had a videographer before and maybe watched it the first year a few times or once on my anniversary. Years later it went in the trash with other cds dvds.

This time, no video just photographer for a few hours and instead of guestbook we’re doing a Polaroid camera for guests. Found a pretty good deal on cam and film via Amazon. Not sure what I’ll do w pix afterwards but would be fun to see them after and make a video splice to share on social media. Don’t want an album so they might be tossed.

I am in total sync with you on the video. IF I was younger and had lots of elder family members that were close to me, and I wanted that documentation of them, then MAYBE I would do a video. But even then, how often do you watch it? And NO ONE wants to watch your wedding video with you, sorry. LOLOL We are doing a photo booth because it'll be fun for everyone involved. Plus, that, the caricaturist we are providing and the palm reader will be our "favors" for everyone, thus eliminating that little added expense.
