Videographer is retiring

Beverly, on August 15, 2019 at 2:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi everyone!!
So I booked my videographer a few months ago. I’m getting married April of 2020. I just got an email from him that my wedding will be his last and that he wants to retire and walk away from this business while he still can. Is this something I should be worried about or do you think he’ll do a good job regardless? I know the wedding industry strives to have good reviews and referrals. I found him on wedding wire and he does have good reviews so maybe it’s not a big deal he’s retiring. My concern was the wording “walk away from this business while I still can”. What does every one think?

He might mean that he doesn't want anyone to try to book him after he's done your wedding. Honestly I spend all day with guys about to retire and they make all kinds of odd jokes.

I wouldn’t worry too much. At the end of the day, he’s still a professional and he’s bound to take pride in his work.

I wouldn't be concerned about it unless he starts to delay his communication, change things in the contract, or other red flags.

It seems like it was just a friendly email. Doesn't seem like cause for concern Smiley smile

I agree with PP. It sounds like he just wants to kind of make it clear that if he doesn't set a hard deadline of "walking away" he's just going to continue to get booked up. Wedding vendors can get booked up so far in advance. Again, I wouldn't worry unless you see some actual red flags.
